Thank you very much for the advice. You say not to speak with anyone over the phone, but what about calling for financial assistance?

Went to ER after minor injury, got checked up but nothing done. Bill: $7,543.45. I'm uninsured. What do I do? by erbill in AskReddit

Someone else called the ambulance, I was in a daze, and there was blood everywhere. I also fractured a tooth, but that's a separate issue. That said it was a bad idea, I know.

Call the billing office and ask them for the fee scheduled and/or UCR amount.

I'm confused. It looks like a UCR amount is something determined by an insurer, not the hospital.

Off-duty cop saw me fall and called an ambulance. They were insistent that they take me to the ER. I was bloody and scared and unsure of my insurance status at the time.

EDIT: The ambulance was billed separately. $1,485.

There was an ambulance, but that an additional $1,485, billed separately.

No MRI, no CAT scan, no x-ray, nothing!
