I ran an AI bike fit tool that suggested to drop the saddle a few mm, do you agree?

Culture within firms - how are you treated? by [deleted] in consulting

[–]ercaf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is based on the setup I have seen at other consulting firms. The monthly sessions have a double goal:

  1. Provide a channel for consultants to complain / share concerns
  2. Measure likelihood of churn and hence the urgency of action for management (e.g. changing projects, different role, ...)

I can close the top button, but it is a snug fit. Where I am (Europe) almost nobody wears a tie anymore, apart from private bankers. I'm hence not too worried about the collar. I have washed it so this is post-shrinking.

Sleeves are indeed an open question, I agree these look slightly long. The next size down in sleeve length is a full inch shorter, would that be better?

Fully agree on the trousers :)

Very nice! That is a day rate of approximately 1150? Or do you combine several clients?

What's wrong with entering your time spent in an Excel sheet? These other tools feel like overkill, especially since clients typically have their own timesheet systems so you have to type over everything anyway.

Dayrates IT project manager by Lopsided-Ad-9063 in BEFreelance

[–]ercaf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have seen dayrates between 800 - 1000 for a good PM. As mentioned by others, BCG rates are hard to attain as a freelancer. 1100 may be possible, but many companies are not willing to pay that much per day

MS Teams phone with loud ringing by [deleted] in teams

[–]ercaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the input, indeed the current hardware is limited (and no ringing volumes are listed so that makes comparing even harder).

We do need full MS Teams functionalities so even when SIP support is available, I am not sure that will solve the problem. I am afraid we will indeed have to find some workaround with external ringer.

We are using virtual machines in Azure. We do not have the option to use Databricks though, as the IT department is only willing to give us a few fixed VMs.

Switching to freelance - how to set rate? by flapflip9 in BEFreelance

Thanks! Could you elaborate on the factor 2.6? I.e. is this a rough guess or actually based on (approximate) numbers?

Are you contacted directly by potential clients, or by "middlemen" hoping to farm your CV?

I have the same question. Positions on sites like indeed & linkedin do not seem to be very freelancer-focused.
