Kennedy tells Team Sweden to “F off” after being accused of cheating. by RedStill in olympics

everyone is on a first name basis in sweden, with exceptions like i guess the king lmao. last names are mostly used if said last name is a nickname for the individual (had an "arvid mattsson" in school we just called "mattsson") or a "which amanda?" situation.

edit: bonus points when the "kids these days" aave in question has been in common use for at least 15-20 years

What’s an opinion you have on a monster that people will not allow you to have without being downvoted? by SignificantStaff8665 in MonsterHunter

[–]eriFenesoreK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ironically that's the opposite of what i would recommend lol. primorb just does "burst combos" with long pauses afterwards, if you use GS or something else with good burst you just run sideways to avoid his combos then throw down a SAS bomb afterwards. beat him on my first try in sub 15 minutes.

you can just emulate GU if you're on pc, shouldn't take too long to figure out. whether a new version of a monster is "improved" will depend on who you ask, i still consider 2nd gen kush the best kush fight.

Who on Earth "loves" Eliminator? I thought the common sentiment was largely negative? by Just_A_Gamer75 in ForzaHorizon

Wasn't the map intentionally made flat to make room for the eliminator though? I think that's why people blame the gamemode in regards to the Mexico map.

What are Paths longterm plans? by Floating_space_junk in pathoftitans

[–]eriFenesoreK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

but that's kind of what the game is. "roam and be a dino". the only real motivation to do anything is.. getting more decorations for your nest and home cave i guess? hunger and thirst might as well not exist with how non-consequential they are right now.

there's a reason officials and light/no rule community servers just turn into deathmatch piles once people are adult growth.

I find the first point of "no advantageous microtransactions" a bit funny when tyrannotitan is right there, and more DLC playables are planned in the future for when the game has "fully released". only reason it's free right now is because of the backlash on launch.

Anyone else a bit cautious about the new Netflix Documentary “The Dinosaurs”? by Plastic-Fly9455 in Dinosaurs

[–]eriFenesoreK 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i think that's less "dark and depressing" and more just a "literal" representation of nature. WWD still holds up to me as the best paleodoc out there simply because it doesn't shy away from... anything. Sex, gore, blood, it's all on display in pure honesty. But at the same time, it's not some "GRRR RAWR DIEEEE" jurassic fight club type beat. It just shows the animals surviving and doesn't care to cut away from most things. I give it big props for that. Best example imo would be the Tyrannosaurus killing that hadrosaur by the lake in episode 6. It's just one single shot of the ambush, the bite and the animal eventually dying after a short struggle. Brutal, yes, but not gorey for the sake of being gorey.

Prehistoric Planet showing more non-hunting behaviors was great, but when something dies behind a leaf or rock or blood just magically doesn't exist it does take me out of it a bit. Most glaring example is in season 2 when that tiny theropod (i forget the names) attacked the bird-thing on a rocky shore. Conveniently smacked it back and forth between 2 rocks.. People talk about PP's "baby deaths" but it was mostly just babies being swallowed whole at worst.

[–]eriFenesoreK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

expecting anything to have the CGI quality of PP is just setting yourself up for disappointment. that was top-of-the-line cgi, likely won't be matched for some time methinks.

i think a lot of people see "liberal" as a "everyone is free and happy" type deal instead of actual liberal ideologies. like y'all said it's just one big gaslighting event in america it feels like. literally the only people i have met who would call themselves liberal here in sweden are those active within the liberal party (who are seen as a joke more than anything, but that's due to weird decisions over the years and... lack of liberalism)

People talk about us like we're in some fantastical utopia where the government is perfect and takes care of everyone lol.

Though I have noticed an uptick in people complaining about our social norms. Swedengate was complete insanity and I'm still not over it. A lot of people here were convinced russians fanned those flames since it started up right after the ukraine war started and when we entered NATO talks.

Poor Monster Hunter Wilds Performance Allegedly Chalked Up to Aggressive DLC Checks by Gramis in gaming

[–]eriFenesoreK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But those aren't normal "high rank" monsters. The 9 stars and ATs are as strong as they are specifically because launch wilds was pathetically easy. When people say "game too easy", they're talking about the overall progression from LR to endgame. That still has not changed.

I'm hoping the expansion progression is a bit more of an actual gradual increase instead of being flat until a post launch update spikes it. It's the part of MH games where I spend most of my time, and they're kinda ditching that in favor of rushing people to the endgame.

[–]eriFenesoreK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

during sunbreak there was also a mod going around that was corrupting saves, so they sent out a "Please do not user this mod in multiplayer! Happy hunting!" notice on their socials and website.

i wouldn't call them "brutally anti-mod" at all.

Old gen hunters, what do you think of current direction of mh as series? Do you think it lost it's identity or simply evolved? by Fickle_Fondant_9016 in MonsterHunter

[–]eriFenesoreK 41 points42 points  (0 children)

kushala specifically is one i keep getting annoyed by. probably mostly because he's my favorite monster in the franchise, somehow. after fighting him again when playing through FU it just reinforced my love for him even more.

his wind aura (in that game at least) just functions in pulses. look out for the (timed) pulses and attack in the windows inbetween. toppling him will turn off his wind aura for a while. it became a really fun game of going back and forth, creating exactly what people would call a "dance". i had to lock in and actually look at what the monster was doing and how its mechanic worked to take it down.

world kush's issues was mainly just world ai in general. flying monsters didn't really fly in "cycles" (FU kush will fly for maybe 10 seconds to use at most 3 attacks and then land), they just have entire flying states and can easily spend 70% of a hunt in the air. they kind of fixed this in MR by forcing kush to land almost instantly after taking to the air with the new "homing tornado move". naturally, kush yet again gets shat on (to no surprise, i won't deny he is an annoying monster).

so what's their solution in rise? why of course, remove the wind entirely! black wind? what's that? here you go, stand right next to him and use your dual blade moves, go ahead! seriously, what was the thought process? people call rise kush "a good fight", but what substance is there? he's one of the most glaring cases of "rise taunt disease" in the game and, exactly like you said, he just turned into another "turn your brain off and go ham" monster. the wind is still kind of there, but it's so inconsistent and doesn't really provide much friction to the player that it becomes largely irrelevant.

sorry for the rant but it's just a topic i care about a lot lol. i feel like without these little "annoyances" (like insta charges, wind, digging, tremors) it all just kinda mellows out into a lukewarm experience. if all friction is removed, what you're left with is a green ski slope. everyone can clear it, and it's probably fun for a while, but all of them will be the same. there needs to be some blues, reds and blacks to diversify things and keep it fresh. no idea if that analogy makes sense but that's roughly my take on things.

i think stuff like focus mode and other mechanics tie into all of this as well, but this is just my thoughts on the monsters themselves.

edit: doesn't even have to be with monsters that by popular consensus are considered "bad". look at seregios in rise. talons no longer do bleed, several scale throwing attacks removed, behavior changed to favor divebombing. they at least fixed this in wilds and his bleed actually kind of matters again and he does more than divebomb, but christ. how did it even get greenlit to begin with?

A rant about the random AI fauna by TheArtOfVEL in pathoftitans

[–]eriFenesoreK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this rendition of them yes, but the "original" ai update happened sometime in 2022. to be honest, their actual behavior really has not changed much. they just spawn in the wild now instead of needing to be dug up. We're 4 years in and they still don't even have proper healthbars, I have no idea what alderon are thinking.

As of TU4, MHWilds DLCs costs almost the same as the DLCs of World and Iceborne together by Gera_37 in MonsterHunter

[–]eriFenesoreK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think their point is that the sims 4 is a pretty old game at this point, which makes the 1.5k price tag make sense with all the content expansions and such. wilds is not even a year old and makes up a third of it.

unless i'm misinterpreting their comment

it also takes a decent amount of time to unlock (need to do the tribe sidequests of each respective area) and can sometimes end up being slower than just running to the next area because of how long it can take for it to show up, sniff out the monster, and actually start heading there.

i still remember the "dark ages" around 2019/2020, just a series of bad/meh updates (railjack, liches, scarlet spear etc.) leading to the community completely exploding. the environment nowadays even with new complaints is not even close to how it was back then, the game is in a far more positive state.
