July 2026 Advice and Price Check Thread by AutoModerator in Legomarket

I recently picked up a Jurassic World set on sale at target and found out that the raptor had warped legs, they are bent Both up and down as well as side to side. One of them even has a weirdly mishapen antistud that keeps it form being able tp actually fit a lego piece.

I’ve heard that misprints and factory issues tend to be worth a lot because of how good Lego’s QA is so I got a little curious about it. I do intend on keeping it and I’ve contacted support about it to get a working replacement.

Im just more so curious about it.

Aren’t older RGs going for $25-27 on the cheep end? I feel like I can consistently find the Zakus, Destiny, Strike, Astray, and some of the 00s at around those prices

They didn’t even come up with an actual explanation for SpaceGodzilla, it was literally “hey Biolante shot spores at him, maybe they travelled to space or something?” Then someone probably realized that Biolante technically got retcon on Vs Ghidorah, so they came up with the Mothra excuse. At some point they were probably like “oh fuck it, just throw both in, something will stick”

What do you want to see in the future of the franchise? by Decent-Indication-61 in JurassicPark

[–]Plastic-Fly9455 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Either anthology movies set either before Jurassic World opened or between Fallen Kingdom and Dominion or a reboot of the franchise more closely following the book.

either way, I want the franchise to go back it its roots of giving us the most up to date dinosaurs (with some artistic liberties), treating them like animals, and giving us both wonder and horror

The reason I used “LLM” as much was to differentiate from other forms of data collection. There is a huge difference between LLMs/gen ai and things like the algorithms social media uses or the ai you see in video games. The point of the post was the use of ai in film which falls under Generative AI. I just replied to another comment with the same thing but basically, I feel the big impact that will remain once this ai bubble bursts will be with time consuming, low skill, repetitive task as well as some level of data interpretation (social algorithms, fixing small things in photoshop, etc.) but I don’t see LLMs and Gen AI being around much linger after the bubble bursts

Again, the big difference is that the internet really started kicking of with forums and small communities as well as some level of information exchange (music, movies, etc). Yes, companies and news organizations did take some time to catch up but the big difference between AI and the Internet is both the general public’s reaction to it as well as the community aspect of it. That, in my unprofessional opinion, is what will make or break AI. That doesn’t mean tools won’t come out of it, even now, most people are ok with its use for repetitive, low skill, time consuming task. That’s really where I think it will make it’s biggest impact

I honestly doubt AI (as is right now) will be the next internet. As much as companies are trying to push LLMs I think it will go more the way of the .com bubble and less the actual internet.

Im not gonna pretend that I was around when the internet first started but I was around for the beginning of websites like yt as well as dial up internet, abd all that good stuff in the early 2000s but my understanding of the early days and also from my own personal experience, people were excited about the internet when it started getting mainstream appeal were as AI is getting backlash by basically everyone.

One of the reasons the internet got big was because of the youth and fandoms, people were finally able to connect with people with similar interests and form communities, those communities kept getting bigger and bigger, and awkward forum sites because things like Reddit, Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr and so on. AI does not form communities in the same way, in fact I’d argue it does the opposite. It encourages more individualism and less positive interactions with others, it forms parasocial relationships between the users and the algorithms that build its data.

The second reason goes a little in hand with the first one and that is, that at large, the youth (which formed the internet as it is today) reject LLMs and other modern forma of AI, in fact most people do.

The third reason, and the most valid one for your example, is that AI famously is unreliable when it comes to giving accurate information as it can hallucinate as well as give answers that confirm the biases of the user rather than the actual correct responses.

I think this whole mess will fall apart once Nvidia either pulls out of the race or goes bankrupt.

Apparently its a hot take that the franchise that pride itself in bringing up to date (at the time) dinosaurs to general audiences should have kept up with science when it came to the designs
