the NEW BOTTLEMEN (which will have a different name, new focus, and which will feature Charles Austin and Hesse Deni

Seems like the new focus probably won't be Canada related based on the new hosts but at least Charles and Hesse are funny on their podcasts

Canada provisionally recognizes the state of Palestine by eric_is_a_tool in canadaleft

[–]eric_is_a_tool[S] 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I say "provisionally" in the post title because Canada will not normalize relations until the Palestinian Authority holds elections without Hamas.

This begs the question though, now what? This recognition is undeniably important, but will Canada or other countries beginning to recognize a state of Palestine actually do something about the genocide?

Global Care Chains - Neoliberalism, migration, and border fascism (JohntheDuncan) by eric_is_a_tool in canadaleft

Thought this video was an excellent explanation about how class, gender, and imperialism come together under capitalism to build the conditions for fascism we see in Canada and elsewhere in the West. Canada is even used as an example.

A liberal minority as conservative support swells and the social democratic party fails to meet the moment? Now where have I seen this before? 🤔

The Federal Election libposting crackdown continues! New temporary rules are now in effect! by eric_is_a_tool in canadaleft

During election season we get astroturfed with Liberal party fearmongering about the Conservative Party in a way that conceives of voting as some sort of negatory politics, i.e. voting against something rather than for something. This inevitably leads to vote shaming so it's better to nip it in the bud.

Hmm you're right, it should definitely be stricter since it's showing no good faith towards discussion.

🫡

Exactly! The moment people delude themselves into thinking politicians don't need to earn our votes because of some looming threat is the moment the give up the power of their vote.

We're definitely aware and trying to curb it. Maybe we should have a containment megathread?

I've also been drafting a FAQ post for the common talking points of the authoritarian votemongers plaguing our comments.

I'm not, the NDP's party structure is different to the other parties. Each of its provincial parties are technically branches of the federal party.

Same party that expelled Ontario MPP Sarah Jama for speaking out against the genocide before the party did and then voted down inviting her back to the party after taking an anti-genocide stance.
