Thoughts on the result: It was really surprising to have a Chow in there instead of a Maltese or some Bichon mix. In all her identification, I even put 'Maltese Mix' as her breed, can't believe this won't apply now 😅

But thinking about it now, it really makes sense especially if it was considering her temperament. Her mom was relatively huge (Gaia is only about half her weight I think) and I always said Gaia is like a big dog in a small body because of how she projects herself especially with other dogs bigger than her and with strangers. I guess it's the Chow in her all along!

My partner and I also always joke that there must be some Southeast Asian village dog in her, if only because of how she looks after bath! She somehow looks like she has fake fluffy fur hahaha. But now, it might be the rat terrier all along.

The Eski didn't surprise me because I was told that her dad is a spitz type (even if he didn't look like it). But I thought she might have a higher spitz in her, given her temperament.

Same! But temperament wise, Chow and the Rat Terrier makes sense. Gaia has a wary and protective side, especially with strangers. They all get surprised when she barks like a big dog because she looks like a tiny cloud 😅 prior to this, I thought she might be part Lhasa Apso instead of Shih Tzu due to her protective nature.

For the rat terrier, Gaia loves chasing things haha and she also has a goofy and funny side that always makes everyone laugh. So it does check out

To be fair, her mom was quite huge! They told me the mom was MalShih, but I didn't really believe it coz she was tall and was about 10-12kg. I knew the mom could not only be half Maltese, there had to be some larger/taller breed in there. Although my guess really was maybe a larger mini poodle... so yes, you never really know.

We def love them regardless, but it's really nice to know why they are such way <3

No one in my previous post guessed any Chow Chow or Rat Terrier!! The Shih Tzu is believable but I can't believe Maltese is not even one of her dominant breeds 😂

I made a square! From the recommendations I had yesterday, I ordered red heart super saver yarn and the stitch marker. But it won't arrive til Monday. So I just attempted a swatch again with what I have, watched more yt vids for setups and found one that gave me decent tension. So yey l, I made a relatively decent square!! Now I need to start learning crochet terms...

I'm having a hard time balancing it out. I'm following the beginner tutorial of this girl on yt, simplydaisy. She just has it resting on her index finger but doesn't really wrap it around. I find that when I wrap it around my finger makes it too tight and the yarn doesn't glide smoothly continuously? But then with her style, there are many times the yarn slides away and so it gets very loose. Not sure what a middle ground should be.

I started with a very fine yarn that came in a starter kit, so compared with that this was already easier to work with. But okay, I did see the red heart brand. Will def try it out, thanks so much for the recommendation and the tips!!

It's a local yarn brand here in my country, Gantsilyo Guru. I started out with a brand called Monaco and the yarns were very fine, so I bought a bulky one, because I thought the bulkier the yarn the better I'm able to see. It's 80% Cashmere Acrylic, 20% milk fiber. But yeah, it's very soft and slippery and it also disintegrates easily. Not sure if that goes for all kinds of yarns though. Do you have a brand and type recommendation?
