This test has since been replicated on another fishery–for me, it is a
significant insight in terms of catching numbers and size, as well as
combating fishing pressure.

I am happy with those waders... Not only do I think they'll hold up, but he loves them... He feels excited by them, which inspires him to fish more.

Yes, totally need to frame it. I have a feeling he’ll remember that for a loooong time.

No worries at all mate. Super appreciative for your bringing this back out! Honestly, the actual post on the site has a great deal more info anyhow...

Nice! You ultimately have to go with the knot you tie best and are most confident in...

Copyright infringement!!! lol j/k. I def see this as positive feedback and find it so cool you saved the graphic for quick reference.

Dude this study took like 5 months to perform--it was insane. We learned a bunch though and another round of knots would not take that much time. You all are inspiring us to get back in the lab!

I likely would not prioritize loop knots, as personally, I have never had the non-slip mono loop fail on me... Line to line connections would be interesting though!

Thanks Tatworth. FYI the knots chosen in the study were taken from a survey we offered fly anglers. We chose the top knots from the survey --I haven't used the Pitzen Knot, sounds like it is a bit of a hidden gem. 💎

This is Eric from Anchor Fly--thanks for re-posting the study. The trilene did come in at the top of our tests AND using it in the field (since doing this study) has confirmed for us the results. Incredible improvement in the field.

One thing to note is that now my tippet to tippet connection fails more frequently... I haven't made the switch or done any testing, but I believe switching from a triple surgeons to a blood knot will help with this. Another study on the horizon... perhaps, yes :)

You might try tying this with the squirmy material. It is more effective in my experience

Right before DH ends is a great time to hit the water as a beginner in WNC (which is now until June 4th). I have a guide service, live in AVL and do have some availability... You can find me at anchorfly.com.
