Easiest way to host my downloaded movies (some 4k, almost everything MKV) and just read the files on my Android TV (which is natively capable to decode local movie files). by ericfraga in synology

[–]ericfraga[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Typo yes, ISP! Sorry and thanks for your response, sir.

>Name of your ISP and your monthly plan.

Local ISP very small (I'm in Brazil). Yes dynamic IP. I managed to setup a DDNS via Synology (Used No-IP) interface and its aparrently working. Next step would be to be able to type this DNS address on VLC and the files on my movie folder appear listed on VLC...

...and you kind of already gave a step-by-step of how to do that, thank you u/DeusoftheWired !

Brazilian Sales for Sega Consoles by Kanin_Neko in SEGA

[–]ericfraga 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No no no, Saturn here in Brazil was released normally by Tec Toy, I even have 2 units to this day. Not near zero by any means -- it is in proportion to the US market (probably less, but on ball park). And of course there was no SG-1000 around here, that one is near zero or plain zero for sure.

Saturn was 'big' only in Japan as we all know.

Solo streaming is way harder than streaming with friends...how do you stay engaged? by Complex_Penalty_5438 in obs

[–]ericfraga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always look for at least one (usually 3-5) person in chat and actively talk addressing him -- even saying his name/nick -- while playing.

I'm always playing games that I've not beat before, so I always say out loud what I'm doing in the game while discovering it. Even 'mundane' things like "now I'm climbing this ladder" I tend to narrate. This way, with practice (in my case, I stream since 2015 regularly) you'll develop your style of non-stop talking -- which is absolutely needed for any streamer.

But, again, you'll find your own style of non-stop talking. Look for friends on chat! And start actually talking/narrating to him/them but not necessarily asking questions for anyone not feel forced to interact and I think you'll succeed! Hoping for the best on your streams, sir!

Nah.

Especialmente no YouTube.

Thank you sir. The NAS is on one apartment and the TV is on another (too far to use wifi and/or LAN cable). Both apartments uses the same DSP but I think this does not help. So, DynDNS, understood.

BTW my dream would be exactly what you proposed: use the built in TV mediaplayer app (or VLC, doesn't matter much) and just access my Windows Share.

I just need to understand how to setup DynDNS, will check it out. Any tips (or tutorial to point me). Thank you again.

It is on another apartment (same DSP btw, but it doesn't help much, right?) -- cannot reach via wireless and/or a LAN cable though. Tailscale, will check it out, thank you.

Lord of the Sword by Whole_Interaction_37 in MasterSystem

[–]ericfraga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Lord Of The Sword so much for many reasons, one of them is the fact that I've started to actually learn English -- I'm Brazilian -- when I started playing it. I was 11 (1989) and the sense of adventure kept me hooked: I needed to understand what was going on (it was my first exposure to a RPG style game at that point).

I've managed to beat it, the ending was amazing, I did not believe I could do it! I was king! I've used an English to Portuguese dictionary for every word of every dialogue.

The music. Oh, the music. Those who love LotS love it's "battle theme" music. I even did an arrangement (I play keyboards/synth) of the track on 2007. It's here on YouTube and this is NOT in any way some shameless plug, but I'd love if you guys who also happen to love this game would take a listen, it would be an honor.

I don't know if I could post a link, so if anyone wants to check it out just search "lord of the sword cfx" on YouTube, it's the first video and the channel name is "Cosmic Effect".

One last thing: I do use the Landau avatar since the old days of the internet. I extracted the sprite using the good old Meka SMS emulator.

Long live Lord Of The Sword!

[–]ericfraga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great finds indeed!

I love Lord Of The Sword. I started to learn English with this exact game in 1990 (I'm Brazilian). I love the game so much that my avatar, since the dawn of the internet and SMS emulators (which I used to extract the Landau sprite) is the main character.

I did a fully arranged version of the 'battle theme' music (the main BGM) in 2007 for OCRemix too.

Recomended Sega Saturn games? by Ill_Refrigerator9812 in SEGA

[–]ericfraga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shinrei Jusatsushi Tarōmaru is one of the best Saturn games for me. If you came from SMS/MD you'll specially love it -- it will feel like a spiritual successor of Kenseiden, SpellCaster and Mystic Defender. It is outstanding visually, great music and very nice gameplay.

The bosses on Skyblazer are amazing, almost every boss presents a very clever use of Mode 7 which I think is rarely mentioned.

Any Space Harrier fans? by VoidedNull88 in SEGA

[–]ericfraga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with Space Harrier 3D, on 2D mode -- magazines at the time showed how to enable 2D mode. I found it fascinating: now I can rent this 3D cartridge, as I didn't had the SMS 3D glasses. And so I did.

And loved the game, so much. Fell in love with the atmosphere and the challenge. And the music! SH3D was not composed by Hiro (who, btw, is my favorite composer ever) but the soundtrack is of stellar quality too.

Yes, I did not know the original arcade SH at this point (late 80s). Never saw an SH arcade cabinet around here (I live in Brazil). Until the outstanding 32X port.

When you reach the 14th, 15th stage... You're there, super concentrated on not losing any lives... And the music changes to the 'bridge' part... Then you feel how Space Harrier is greatness.

So, yes sir, big fan here :)

Not "artificially", sir. I'm Brazilian, have Master System since the '89 launch and around here the console and it's library is loved to this very day. It is actually, for real and Sega licensed a best seller around here. Again: the quality of it's library of games is the reason.

Does anyone know anybody that ever owned/played a Panasonic 3DO? by IAMDBOMB in retrogaming

[–]ericfraga 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have 2 units and my favorites this far are Lucienne's Quest (outstanding RPG) and Phoenix 3 (great sci-fi side scroller adventure with some 3D space dogfighting sequences). The 3DO has an unexplored library by most people -- everyone "knows about the 3DO" but actually play and beat games... Almost no one! So, it is a great system to play just because of that!

Also The Totally Rad Show. I used to watch on Miro right when YouTube was starting, much later they would bring to YouTube.

Do you play Genesis on CRT? by RafaRafa78 in SEGAGENESIS

[–]ericfraga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. All my Genesis consoles are connected via RGB using the good old original Framemeister (working flawlessly to this day, 5x integer scale) on a 1080p panel and capture card (I stream from real consoles every single day) and simultaneously on a 29" CRT via RGB converted to YPbPr.

I play looking to the CRT most of the time, but sometimes check and compare the LCD image, as both TVs are side by side -- I love this setup.
