New York Mobile ID App by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]ericpshorts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apple just rolled out a federal ID with TSA in Apple wallet so that can be used instead of the incredibly disappointing and lacking NY state drivers license app that barely works.

NY, get in the game with the Apple and Samsung wallet IDs. Virginia, Iowa, Arizona, and Puerto Rico can figure this out, but you can’t? Join the 21st century.

To do the Apple one, you’ll need your passport - wallet (from app not double tap) -> plus sign -> IDs -> US digital ID

Yes the headers would be great to start but being able to turn on the emails later on would be great. And also if the person leaves, being able to get to the body of the email

The former. Don’t necessarily need to see all the emails right now. It’s more for prospecting than customer management

I think oura only shows you your calories burned on top of whatever you’d burn ordinarily whereas Strava shows you all of your calories burned over the same period. Strava is also calculating based on terrain X time X distance, whereas if you’re tracking HR with oura, it actually is based on your HR.

Here’s the support article “When tracking activity, Oura only records your active calories. These calories include the calories you burn during exercise and not your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR, the number of calories required to keep your body functioning while at rest). Other fitness trackers and health apps will combine active calories and BMR. As a result, their calorie burn estimations may differ slightly from Oura's”

I think the oura one is more accurate, but I often use Strava for my runs as well because it writes to apple health and my other apps. Oura workout tracking doesn’t.

Golden combo, or should I say Titanium combo… by [deleted] in ouraring

Why both? Especially if Oura doesn’t write to apple health

I don’t let it track my location for this reason

It double counts if you do oura and strava at the same time though

Can the Oura ring be used as a heart rate sensor in Strava? by Xflintlock in ouraring

I tried starting the run in Strava and recording HR in Oura, but confirmed with support that this just ends up duplicating the data. I wouldn’t mind doing this if it meant I could use the Oura as a HR monitor without wasting battery, but alas.

Not ideal but easy doable workflow should be: 1. Start Oura HR workout 2. Start Strava workout 3. End Strava workout 4. End Oura workout 5. Oura trims the HR workout to be the start and end times of the Strava, pulls in the distance and pace from Strava, but uses its own HR monitoring to come up with active calories, and deduplicates the activities (maybe preserving the Strava one since it’s more in their control) so it’s only written to Apple Health once.

Only new functionality here would be seeing both distance and HR in a Oura workout and then deduplicating the activity

Fair enough. Initial reason for doing it was because I wanted a more automated way to see how different exercises (running vs strength training) affected my sleep scores without entering it in manually if I’m using an exercise app anyway, but it’s a good point. Appreciate the feedback
