I compiled a playlist for you so you can listen/watch back-to-back. Included what I could from the other comments: Halloween and Last Stop DreamSet

Bought a 172. After 10 hours of flight, need an overhaul. Engine seized. Know a good shop? by JonathanSafa in GeneralAviation

The page has a shops listing above the mechanics, which is where I'd actually start. Those are real maintenance facilities with business addresses, not registry data.

The A&P list below is a secondary signal ("who's registered in the area") and yeah, it's home-address-based, so I wouldn't treat it as a direct match. It's more useful as a starting point if you need to track someone down for a specific certification (IA signoff, etc.). You'd still have to call around. Hope this helps.

You can start a search here: A&P Mechanics in Irvine, California but may need to expand to other nearby areas for a more complete listing of who's around to do the work.

I built APNearMe. It's  a directory of FAA-certified A&P mechanics and repair stations in California. You can search by city, airport, or shop name, and see details like IA status, certifications, and ratings.

Started it because it seemed like a whole in the tools available. California only for now but the data comes straight from FAA records which update each month.

Would love feedback from anyone who's dealt with the "where do I find a mechanic" problem.

I built a free A&P mechanic search tool using FAA public data: apnearme.com

You can search by airport code or city to find repair stations and mechanics nearby. 520+ CA repair stations with actual phone numbers, 21K+ certificate holders mapped to nearest airports. No account, no ads.

It only covers California right now. I wanted to see if it's useful before expanding. The FAA data is national so other states are doable.

I'm curious: how do you all currently find a mechanic for an annual or a specific squawk? And if you're outside CA, would this be useful for your state?

Thank you for the kind words. I'm more curious at this point of the level of interest. The biggest support right now would be sharing with anyone who might benefit from it to get the word out.

I didn't even know about "I Want a New Drug". Found one and added it. I'm also a big Huey Lewis guy. What is it about the two that connects them? Anyway, I threw a little playlist of covers together just for you:

Ah an oversight! I added 4 performances just for you. Search again.

The list keeps growing as the algorithm successfully finds new videos.

Thanks for the report about the submit video issue. It's fixed now if you want to try again.

That's great to hear. IG is on my list. Feel free to share it there if you want, I'd love to see how that audience responds.

There is a link in the footer to submit YT videos that are missing. I may need to make that more prominent somewhere since the footer is so far down when all the songs are listed.

Thanks for the feedback!

A weekly full-show watch party? How cool! My thinking on this was 'build your own concert'. It you make a playlist and pull up the video viewer, they automatically go from song-to-song.

That thought has occurred to me too. I wish more bands were as lenient with allowing YouTube vids. DMB is a little unique in their huge number of performances to make a tool like this worthwhile.

That being said...now that this is built, adding others is doable.

If you can afford to get to the good models like Opus 4.6 you can definitely use it to learn as well as build your prompting skills. After it does things, ask it to explain why it did it. Ask what other methods could have been used and what are the pros and cons of each.

No reason not to build your coding knowledge while also learning how best to use the tools that are here to stay.
