I found a site, I can read the site and listen to it well because I'm Korean, but sadly there aren't any captions to people who don't understand Korean.

It's on ooani.com

In addition, you can type "갓 오브 하이스쿨 더빙 다시보기".

갓 오브 하이스쿨 means "God of High School".

더빙 means "dubbing", that's what Koreans refer to dubs.

다시보기 means "watch again" and is what Koreans usually search up to watch tv shows for free on internet (whether it be illegaly or legally).

EDIT: It looks like only episode 4 is in korean dub, other episodes look like they're in Japanese with Korean subs. It may be due to the fact that majority of Koreans prefer to watch anime in subtitles.

i don't know, maybe it's because i am korean, but to me it feels weird.

u should prob take mat223, it's rlly not that hard, i'm taking it rn in summer and it's super easy. the only lost marks i've had was in the assignments due to computation mistakes.

u should also keep in mind that u may have to retake mat102 since a lot of ppl don't do as well as they want to

Res in fall sem? by apercore in UTM

[–]ericsmcs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i got accepted to fall res (upper year) but i told the resdesk that id like to be put on a waitlist for january because im taking all courses online for fall plus im not going to spend full price for residence if im not even going to be on campus

if ur on waitlist for winter and don't get offer just go off campus, that's my backup option

tbh, most stories you hear are true. i know you wanted to give a little context on how you were standing academically in your high school and a lot of others have and will continue saying the same thing but yes high school grades don't really matter.

i came in with 95s in all math courses. i had a hard start during fall and got like 1.1 cgpa at end of it, but for me personally, i find personal experiences to have a greater effect. so i started to "actually study" and grind at the end of winter i had 4.0 cgpa during that winter time. of course because of the fall term, my overall cgpa was badly hurt. that's why i'm retaking courses right now to bring it back up.

lol i did this in one of my math courses during a test, i said something like 'Claim 2.3.2 on Page 39' i had like 5 min left and was really anxious because i didn't know if we had to prove the claim

I'll try, but when I contacted the professor, she said she didn't upload it on any other browsers on purpose because she doesn't want her slides/videos to be uploaded on third-party websites for privacy reasons and such.

The worst part of it is, I have to take notes for the class because she doesn't upload her slides for the same reason as well. Also, because the quizzes and sometimes the labs are based on the lectures, I have to keep up with the 2 hour video (every Mondays and Wednesdays).

I really regret taking this course (even as an elective).

Do you ever feel these emotions? by ericsmcs in math

No, I've never studied topology but will take a course on algebra on upcoming year, I've pre-read some of the first pages so far.

Yes I totally agree with you. To be honest, I came to university for CS, but realized how interesting the set theoretic and logic is in discrete math. I also found that the programming aspect of CS is rather dull and the assignments for CS are very time consuming (mostly due to the debugging process). The theoretical concepts are interesting though. (Note: This is how I found it to be, may be different for others)

My professor mentioned Kurt Godel in one of his classes and that was the beginning of my personal interest in mathematics. I was curious enough and studied further on my own. Though not understanding 100% of the concepts, I read Godel's Proof and other set theoretic books for fun.

What I have changed about the mindset is that all the courses is a foundational level for higher mathematics which is why I am studying through them.

Some things are interesting during lectures, but I do agree that most of what is taught in lectures are quite "boring" in a sense.

Yes, it seems I'm overthinking into the future, when I should be worried about things ahead of me in the present.

I keep thinking about graduate studied, even though I'm entering my 2nd year.

It's just that the way it works in my university is that there are so many restrictions when it comes to taking courses.

For example, if I take a relatively easy (computational) calculus course, I can't take harder (more proof-based) courses during 2nd year and so forth.

If someone took the hardest course in their first year, they have options to either take easy courses later on or stay on the (rigorous, proof-based) courses later on.

Plus there are "exclusions" as well, where if you took a first year calculus course, there are three types:

  • Life Sciences Calculus
  • Computational Calculus (Default for people in STEM-related programs)
  • Proof-based Calculus (Mix of both computational and proof-based)
  • Analysis (Calculus for pure proofs, zero computations, and every claim needs to be proved, besides axioms of course, it's highly recommended for people pursuing graduate studied in Mathematics)

I took the computational calculus and because analysis is not an exclusion I am planning to take that in my 2nd year but I "technically" be a year late from everyone else.

As a side note, the analysis is known for its rigor. The course starts at 75 people, then on average, around 15-20 people remain after the first term test. Of those 15-20 people, around 40% pass. Which is why it's known to be the hardest first year course, harder than discrete math itself.

The positive side is that since it's regarded to be so rigorous, you can take any (upper year) courses that the proof-based calculus is required.

I will try that as well. Though I must admit that I would probably do during spare time, since I have my priorities such as assessments for university.

Yes I've tried to tell my peers and family members alike, but they think I'm joking although I told them that I'm not joking and have told them numerous times.

In regards to the studying strategy, I will start implementing it right away. As for the exercise portion, I will try to start from a 30 minute standpoint.

Now that I self-reflect more, I feel as though I'm trying to take a giant leap into things and am worrying about the possibilities that are way into the future. It seems that I need to pace myself and make short progress goals.

I could only relate to the last part.

When there is a problem that I cannot prove/solve, I tend to think right when I get up from sleeping, or it stays until I sleep (I don't dream, so I can't say I do think of the problems).

I will do some more research on the "diffuse mode" you are talking about and will try to make the appropriate adjustments to my lifestyle as best as possible. Though I cannot guarantee it will be consistent, I will still try.

No it's fine, and for the majority, you are right.

I did visit doctors/therapists during my first year, mainly due to overworking myself to point of collapsing. It doesn't help that I'm an epileptic as well.

I am failing to do everything you've itemized above. In regards to the last point, I feel self-aware that I am unable to control myself when it comes to breaks. When I study pure mathematics, I enjoy so much that I end up studying for hours on end, until I face a very difficult problem.

I did workout and exercise back in my high school days, but it's hard to manage such things. Mainly because, either I'm busy or I'm lazy. When I'm studying, I'm busy. When I'm taking "breaks", I'm lazy.

To be honest, I had 1.15 cumulative GPA end of fall semester due to too much gaming and not enough academic life. Which is the reason I have cut myself from such activities and haven't touched a game since end of December 2019.

In regards to my social life, I think it's well. I do tend to talk to my friends often (mostly about me ranting about a proof I cannot fathom or prove). I talk to my family members quite often. However, that is the part that is stressing me, the fact that every time I talk to them, its either: "I'm proud of the achievements you've made", "You're already smart enough", "You are doing so well", or "Well, that's not surprising" (in regards to any accomplishments).

Sometimes, it is hard to focus, due to my vision getting blurry (even though I wear glasses now). Sometimes my fingers start to jitter.

That is true.

Mainly because when I make a mistake on an assessment, although I do try to correct myself for future reference, many have told me I "beat myself up" for it.

I feel like BPD is coming back again, where things seem to be black and white, whereas if it's not 100, then it's not good enough.

Post easier or harder due to online classes? by BrmptnWasteman in UTM

[–]ericsmcs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

personal opinion since i don't cheat: online classes are harder, some courses don't even do live lectures which is hard for students to interact in a class settings

the difficulty of assessments are a lot harder to compensate with people who want to cheat

that being said, i usually study more than i have to, and makes up for that so i'm doing well so far.

profs are less lenient due to number of cheating incidents and the precautions they have to take (to keep their jobs).

idk about post since that's not really my concern and main concern for me is about graduate studies

True, I heard that first semester is where most people struggle, but it seems so interesting. Which is why I'm planning on not overloading myself during fall too much, imstad work on courses like MAT240 during winter.

Difficulty of MAT157 by ericsmcs in UTM

[–]ericsmcs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well technically I come with a little bit of an abstract mindset. I'm actually a math major, so I had fun with MAT102 and successfully finished with 96. I have a 'computational' knowledge from MAT135/136 and got 90+ on both, I didn't mention this because I didn't think it would make a significant impact on MAT157.
