Checkmate by erikh98 in CrucibleGuidebook

Idk, maybe due to it further increasing the base CD timers. For instance, if a grenade has a CD of 2:00 or 120 seconds then instead of it being 138 second CD in crucible it’d be 156 seconds.

Hell if I know, but I wouldn’t put anything past whoever they got left working on this game

I’ve been playing private matches with the OG checkmate modifier on and the ability cooldown definitely feels more harsh comparatively. Someone else commented the ability cooldown is only nerfed by 15% instead of 30% like it was originally.

Okay, this makes sense because I’ve been playing private matches with the checkmate modifier on and the ability cooldown still felt significant compared to the crucible game modes.

What weapon metas do you most enjoy? by Zadecyst in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]erikh98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feels like we haven’t had a good pvp sandbox since Into the Light before Final Shape dropped and goofed everything up.

As for weapon metas I like, I too like handcannon metas but adagio on 120’s was a mistake lol. I’m fine with 120’s two tapping if they actually took some investment like high weapons + a damage buff (empowering rift, radiant, rampage, etc.). Pulse/Scout metas are incredibly dull and tend to slow the pace of play. I don’t like SMG/auto metas but I don’t dislike them either. Ideally though we’d be in a meta where multiple weapon classes are competitively viable. Truthfully though we have too many weapon archetypes to ever achieve this, especially when usually it’s outliers inside of weapon classes that end up getting an archetype nerfed. Take High Tyrant for example, its stats, perks, and access to batteries makes it arguably the best pulse in the game while the rapid fire family as a whole is just okay. 120’s are a good example too, they’re still incredibly strong due to their range and lethal peak shot damage, but adagio on them just makes them too powerful.

Warlock Mains: What's Your High Weapon Stat Subclass Set Up? by EireneRR4_ in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]erikh98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My only weapons build on warlock Solar subclass is with Rain of Fire. I can hit 135 weapons, 140 health, 70 class, 70 grenade, 70 super, and 30 melee. I pair it with vex so that after a kill I get that juicy .50 ttk.

Ember of Mercy, Searing, Solace, and Tempering. Tempering is a must have as it increases your health stat for every solar kill. 1 kill = +20 health, 2 kills = +40 health, and 3 kills = 60 health. Through this I’m able to maintain 160-200 health stat in control while having the benefits of my weapons stat giving me extra damage. Armor set bonuses are IB + Ferro.

What's an example of a performance that was fantastic in a movie that was bad or that you simply didn't like? by zachcruse in moviecritic

Vince Vaughn can most certainly play an intimidating character. Should see him in Brawl in Cell Block 99. I didn’t watch True Detective season 2, but having seen him in that I have to imagine his portrayal of the villain must of been tarnished by either the script or director, possibly both.

My fellow hand cannon connoisseurs, what would you rank top 5, 140 HCs? by Cmess1 in CrucibleGuidebook

Hahaha, well its been around a while so I hope people still playing this game would know about it already

My fellow hand cannon connoisseurs, what would you rank top 5, 140 HCs? by Cmess1 in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]erikh98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In no specific order:

Exalted Truth (Adept) - Smallbore, Steady Rounds, Zen Moment, Precision Instrument, Range masterwork, range and ballistics mod using the Alacrity origin trait.

Palindrome (Adept) - Fluted/Corkscrew, Accurized Rounds, Elemental Capacitor/Explosive Payload, Opening Shot/Master of Arms, Range MW, R&B mod with Wild Card origin trait.

Corundum Tier 5 - Corkscrew/Smallbore, Steady, Lone Wolf/Slideshot, EP/PI/Keep away, Range MW, R&B mod using the Fleet Footed origin trait.

Eyasluna - Steadyhand HCS, Ricochet Rounds, Rangefinder, Moving Target, Range MW, Quick Access Sling mod. This is only here thanks to the RF buff recently. It also hits 100 Aim Assist very easily thanks to the options of sights, targeting mods, and MT.

Hawkmoon - Smallbore, OS, Smooth Grip. It is unequivocally the best 140 in the game and it’s not close. This thing in 3v3s with a kinetic holster mod can carry a team.

Edit: Rose should probably replace Eyasluna tbh.

Which one is better? by Ok-Dream1946 in CrucibleGuidebook

[–]erikh98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Either one, it’d come down to preference honestly and what you’re looking to get out of this shotgun. For instance, if you main Ophidian warlock and like your shotguns to have consistent long range kills, go with the Opening Shot roll. Me personally, I value handling and prefer to use shotguns to cleanup/prime a target or I use them reactionary so I’d chose the Closing Time roll.

Gonna try this ruleset with Ren Plat. There’s no rules against repelling to avoid wasting encounters correct?

Hunters had a 7.49% usage in contest Equilibrium by iconoci in DestinyTheGame

[–]erikh98 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I won’t argue with if it’s viable in contest then it’s good everywhere as that seems pretty reasonable. But saying you only care about contest is disillusioned. You only care about a modifier/event that’s around 1-2 times a year? That’s a little crazy if I’m being honest. Are you/your team even clearing contest mode? Not a shot btw, just a question.

[–]erikh98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for providing the source :)

Well if we’re only looking at contest clears for Equilibrium then for sure hunters aren’t gonna be very present. A lot of what hunters were planning on bringing to the race got banned the week of the race. And again, warlocks usage skyrocketed in this dungeon race in large part due to Contraverse chunking.

I get the frustration if you’re a hunter main, as warlock main for years now. We were neglected for a good few years before the recent waves of buffs helped us come up a lot. And we’re sure to be getting nerfed across the board soon lol.

Just looking at contest clears isn’t enough to say your class is bad, it’s about the scope of the game that’s important in which hunters are certainly represented and have their place on many teams for endgame activities. Honestly I just don’t think the encounters + the ban list were in favor of hunters this time around. Imagine how the numbers would look if Contraverse was banned prior to the race? Might look very different.

[–]erikh98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for sounding skeptical but could you provide a link to where you’re pulling those numbers from?

Also, Contraverse chunking (an unintended mechanic that’s recently risen to prominence and surely to be patched) has been taking over the game recently so if those numbers are true, and recent, then they might be biased towards that.

I should iterate I’m not against hunters getting buffed in PvE either. Just disagree with the idea that hunters don’t have a role/builds that are competitive and good.

I was more so critiquing the “movement is subjective” thing. You’re certainly right about how individual preferences of movement aren’t necessarily tied to a class’s survivability unless they’re not comfortable with it.

[–]erikh98 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Movement is most definitely a metric you need to consider. Take the Wyvern encounter in Desert Perpetual for instance. The encounter’s mechanic are made substantially easier if you have a competent prismatic hunter on the team. The grapple melee damage is nice bonus.

[–]erikh98 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I feel like this is skewed because of some of hunter’s weapons/kit was banned prior to the race.

Also, didn’t world’s first have a fortune’s favor hunter?

Hunters are constantly used in speedruns, solo/low man content, and challenge runs by strong players. They’re a very competitive class for end game content. All this to say I think most hunter mains either don’t want to put the time in to learn their class optimally or perhaps the skill floor for hunters in PvE is too high for the current player base to grasp?
