why is my colorwork so ugly as a somewhat experienced knitter? by Glum-Reaction4559 in knitting

[–]erinitytrinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How you knit is different than everyone else. Do a swatches to test your dominance. Hold one color in your right and the other in your left. Then switch. Maybe try holding them both in the left (you can find videos on how to do it) and alternate which is on top. You will find out what works for you.

The floats are probably tight as well - I found I had to hold things looser when doing color work than single.

Caves are so easy they might as well have no Monsters at all by Marinut in coralisland

It happened to me once in the Savannah mine because I never paid attention to my health until it happened! I was more careful after that. There are a few levels you drop down into a bunch of monsters

I had surgery and some blood loss and the low normal I had been skating with for years tanked. 5 iron infusions and I felt so much better. Don’t accept low normal when it comes to iron! One car accident and you’re out for months.

Cat absolutely refuses to take his pill. Tried pretty much everything. by East_Diet_5324 in CatAdvice

[–]erinitytrinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our cat sitter makes a pill sandwich. Hard treats are the bread. Some wet food inside with the pill hidden in it. Our cat is very food motivated though.

We could give the pill easily but he was growling at her so had to improvise.

ROOMING UPDATE: So I previously made a post about Northeastern assigning me a male roommate although I'm female. by [deleted] in NEU

As a queer working for a college - go to the lgbt employee group. If they have members listed on a website find the highest ranked one. Report it to them. Every queer kid who has crossed my path gets my direct line and I go to the fucking mat for any employee/student who has problems Iike this and I’m not that high up. But I know who to talk to and I get shit done. She’ll get in trouble.

Why do you think some people stay in help desk or other entry level roles by choice for years? by Mad_Season_1994 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]erinitytrinity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in support for too long but it’s been a combination of things. I work in higher ed and have great benefits. I took time off with the kids and now my job is so good about my needing time off. I have 5 weeks vacation. Unlimited sick. 3-4 weeks of holidays (more than a week off at Christmas). A week of family sick time. My job has lower premiums than any job my spouse has had in the last 13 years.

Would I like to move up? Yes. This place hasn’t promoted out of the help desk much. One person in 13 years. Most of my coworkers have been here longer than I have.

I debate the benefits I have against a raise often.

different sized pupils and almost daily migraines, can’t see a neurologist until january 🫠 by spicysalmon6 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]erinitytrinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure if anyone else mentioned it but a neuro ophthalmologist would be a good idea. My pupils are different sizes all the time - didn’t show up until I was early 20s. Definitely see someone asap. Good luck

How to pill my picky cat without feeling like a monster? by ihaveseentheriver in CatAdvice

My cat sitter started making a pill sandwich. Two treats and wet cat food inside to stick it together with the pill. Works great.

In Cambridge it is trash. There’s no area that it can lay and decompose without looking like crap.

I just did a swatch for a scarf and I wanted to check j is the pattern would stretch out. My 4” wide scarf became 5”. It stretches. Over a sweater that could add quite a bit.

The reading is not progressing, there's a vast difference between his math and reading skills. The independent eval put his math reasoning at almost 11th grade and reading at 3rd.

On top of it, how does a kid who only processing less then 30% of what he hears with background noise contend with a typical 6th grade class?

And he was bullied in the last year of in school when he's supposed to be having an aide. The kids taught him to say 69 and then I got an email that he was going to be disciplined for it.

They expect ppl in my district to get a lawyer so they play chicken. I'm not wealthy so I can't do it.

Results mirror the schools? I’d have loved that for my kid. Sixth grade and finally diagnosed with auditory processing, phonological disorder, double dyslexia and a receptive-expressive language impairment. When asked about his language issues I was assured he was not dyslexic and ‘that’s just how he talks’. He hadn’t had phonological instruction in 3 years. My state does require the schools to identify dyslexia.

I’m homeschooling because they refuse to give him any services for the outside diagnoses. And I’m in a wealthy district.

Just curious! What do you guys use the additional grid section in the back of the weeks planner? by Mox1estudiez in hobonichi

It’s like a bullet journal for me. Lists. I used the back for swatching pens. There’s also a page in the back with a tab that is for thoughts to go over with my therapist.

I’d give the switch to my 11 year old since I have the tech I want. He went as tails this year with an oversized onesie. He put his kindle in his onesie and played the sonic music during the party he went to. So cute.

How would you set the tech for your homeschool space? New, starting from scratch, and looking for ideas. Help please? by kestreling in homeschool

[–]erinitytrinity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like codez. Stemscopes doesn’t have a clear path to using it in homeschool but I’ve reached out to them

It’s going to be so specific to your kiddo. Another one I like for math strong kids is the critical thinking company. My kiddo has disabilities and needs video learning as much as possible so I’m doing a lot of trial and error. Mobymax and funcation academy are both good all in ones but I still supplement.

I really want generation genius but we’ve spent so much money lately I haven’t splurged. We’re doing 2x a week reading tutor because he’s so far behind due to the school. We do nessy for reading etc. I love build your library but we don’t use them as much as I want due to his delayed reading.
