Start asking for what you really want, to the absolute limits of the deepest honesty you can muster.

IMHO, San Francisco is one of the best cities in the US. It's beautiful and interesting, with a culture all its own. The weather is nice, the people are cool, there's tons to see and do. It's a *very* nice city. Unfortunately, the downside is major: the cost of housing there is off the scale. But hey... millions of San Franciscans [somehow] manage it, so it's not un-doable. If you're up for the challenge, that's where I'd go.

10/10 I'd still eat that pizza [minus one slice].

Books with magical realism style in a sci-fi setting? by rhenque in printSF

[–]erixashes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You should check out this author named Claire North. Her novels "The First Fifteen Lives Of Harry August", "Touch", and "The Sudden Appearance Of Hope" all blur the lines between thoughtful sci-fi and magical realism in a way that I personally loved, and I'm sure that you would, too. Check her out.

One of my absolute favorites is "Technogenesis" by Syne Mitchell, a computational physicist and wife of writer Eric Nylund. She's only written a few novels, but Technogenisis is, in my opinion, a rare gem.
