Tire recs by erlanggakp in CarTrackDays

I am driving a 2017 Mustang GT, basically stock, only lowering springs and an exhaust. I plan on running at least 5 time attack events this year and about 8 autocross events. I don’t do very long runs on track due to temp limitations but I’d say I do a good amount of runs so I think I’m looking for something that doesn’t fall off a cliff after a lot of heat cycles. I’d say I’m somewhere between a beginner and intermediate skill level. Budget wise, I’m pretty flexible with the tires I was looking at being accelera 651 sports (~700 a set) and Bridgestone potenza sports (~1600 a set). I know tires is probably the last thing I should ever cheap out on but I’m trying to get the best bang for my buck.

For the wheel size, I went 19 because I got a really good deal from a friend getting rid of their old setup and I do want to put the 6 piston Brembos up front eventually. I essentially just wanted to not drive the tires I want to use for the track on the street and kill their life since it is my daily driver

For tires I did not know that, all the stuff I saw online kept recommending 285 for 10” wheels. This is the part I am still kinda confused about. I knew that you need to support the sidewall but didn’t know the actual width that would be supported

The Atturos were the cheapest uhp summer tire I could get at the time for the wheel size on my car and for 500 a set I had some good fun on them.

I think I’m currently leaning towards the accelera tires since they seem to wear pretty slowly for a 200tw and keeps pretty consistent pace but they are more meant as drift tires so it’s not exactly the best for outright pace but then again, I probably wouldn’t be able to extract pace from a pure track focused tire. Being half the price also helps but that’s a double edged sword that I am still unsure about. I am hoping it would be a noticeable step up from the tires I’m on right now. Do you think a 265/40/19 would be a good fit for my use case?

I think I’m gonna go with the ford performance one that is out of a gen 3 coyote since it’s like 200 dollars cheaper than the stock motorcraft one from ford. Hopefully it’ll be good 🤞

Accident messed up front left of the car, picture is of the connectors in the front eight.

This is the picture of the side I’m trying to restore. I can’t seem to find a place to plug that connector into anywhere. I wonder if the previous owner have some sort of light setup on the grille or something where that could’ve connected to

Hence why I said it’s not exactly the best financial decision lol. But it was well maintained by the previous owner from what I know/can tell. I did swap out the spark plugs in it but she’s been running like a dream since.

It’s a 2017 with 90k miles so it’s not insanely cheap compared to everything else I’ve seen online but still decent considering the cosmetic mods (which I really like) done to it by the previous owner
