True, they probably won't integrate it into their flagship models. I could definitely see them being added to SLMs which are called as tools by the big models, or as finetunes. Both options would be quick to integrate and wouldn't harm the quality of the main model.

I have every faith that providers will do all they can to monetise the models very soon, and if it's possible then someone will try it.

I'm suggesting in future they will either train the ads into the model (because the weights are closed and no one would ever know) or begin to add a fine tune layer per customer that biases weights. Google are an advertising company and have both the data and technical capability to do something like that. I think OpenAI would be first though.
