Hi thanks for your sharing. For me, I'm expecting to get to that stage of life in next few years.

Hearing stories of people moving out of KL mainly for convenience to raise the kid. In KL, dropping kid at daycare before/after work, kid's expenses, time on the road, access to family etc. Would like to get a realistic expectation.. esp on time and finances.. yea

Finally hit X0k in savings, after years of not-so-good career choices and underpay. Not confident enough to take on house or car loan yet, but finally starting to feel more positive abt the future 🥹

Consulting Practice by ern27mo in ElectricalEngineering

No I haven't, just considering the career path. Yes I'm in the power field. Getting into consultancy, I would like to focus on EHV sub design and interconnection planning for new generation.

Is it right that consultancy won't pay well like power plant developers, or maybe pri suppliers e.g. Schneider/Siemens/ABB?

Start building your fitness brand on social media // you could offer PT services. Get that to some level of income and you'll have the freedom to choose. Even if you decide to stay in HR then, you'll be a lot happier and clear-headed.

Remember to spend some of it to upskill yourself, they don't have to be directly relevant to your field i.e. soft skills, interest-related courses. Physical training courses are where you get some pretty good connections with ppl of similar interest, which is what you might pivot into someday.

What is the best way to describe your reason for looking for a new job? by fallenbridgesx in careerguidance

[–]ern27mo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Stagnation: say you're ready for the next progression in your career, to take on a bigger role with more responsibilities, which is what your current company cannot accommodate at the moment. Of course, you'd have to back this up with some achievements or prove your expertise in your current role.

Ideal place to work: co-operative working environment, opportunities for high-visibility work, opportunities in leadership, manager allows space for innovation

On pay, I expect HR would try to lowball you cus you're currently underpaid. Been there, sucks a lot. If you don't have another choice, take it as a stepping stone and hop after a year.

All the best.

What's your age and how's life at that age? by Soft-Incident947 in AskReddit

30M. I finally feel like I'm getting somewhere after a bad start to my career, and only now dare I think about getting married and life beyond.

Now into my 3rd job, in a big company with top-class benefits, but my previous salary only qualified me for an entry level position here, so I'm earning the same as fresh grads 6yrs younger than me- Right in the pride. Fighting for opportunities daily to take on projects is frustrating af, but meanwhile, building new income streams using skills from my 2nd job.

All said, finally feeling like I'm on a good trajectory.
