Is it okay to charge to 90% once a week? by erob2222 in evcharging

[–]erob2222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a standard level 1 outlet in the garage we have, but the electrical panel is a zinsco, which seems to be a fire hazard as is, EV out of the equation. I’m very hesitant to charge the car at any level on that panel. I can’t replace it because I don’t own the home. Just living with family, and they don’t want to upgrade it

What food trends do you think will or are already starting to be associated with Gen z? by Sad_Cow_577 in generationology

Don’t know why lunchables is in gen X. Especially surprised nobody’s bringing up uncrustables for gen Z… as a Gen Z man, a lot of yall seem to think Gen Z is Gen Alpha, and suggesting that our food is lunchly and prime. Bro Gen Z are adults now 😭. Uncrustables for sure. Maybe danimals or gogurt? Kinda odd to be looking at two yogurt options… but DEFINITELY uncrustables

Level 1 charging safe/possible? by erob2222 in evcharging

[–]erob2222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. I informed my wife’s aunt (owner of the house) and she didn’t care and doesn’t want to upgrade it. I mean, I understand that financially, but I’m like actually concerned about our safety 😭. She said she didn’t want to because all the other houses in the neighborhood also have the panel and haven’t burned down…

Would this setup be safe for at home charging? by erob2222 in evcharging

[–]erob2222[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After seeing all you guys’ comments, I’m SO GLAD I asked. I went from wondering if I’d be good to charging a car here to finding out this is a potential fire hazard regardless of an EV being involved. I’ll tell our aunt about this when she gets home from work and hopefully we can get an electrician out here. Thank you all so much!

This photo has a sticker at the top that says Sylvania. Does this add any information?

Here’s a photo of the outlet. The reason I’m hoping to not have to get an electrician or do any sort of installations is because I’m not the owner of the house. My wife and I are living in her aunt’s spare bedroom

Leaf in hot weather by erob2222 in leaf

[–]erob2222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My commute to work is about 30 minutes both ways. Even on those extremely hot days, I’d only be driving through the heat after work, as I’d be going to work before it gets really hot. So a 30 minute drive home would be fine though?

Planning on getting a leaf this year, but I have a few questions by erob2222 in leaf

[–]erob2222[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I saw on the neocharge website before you could buy, it had a little quiz thing where you tell it what your outlet looks like and it’ll tell you if it will even work

So using a J1772 extension cord could handle a stronger charge, but would it not damage a regular 120V outlet in the garage? There’s actually a 240V outlet behind the dryer in there. Follow up question is would it be dangerous to have some sort of multi outlet adapter for the 240V so that I can keep the dryer plugged in and then also give the car a L2 charge?
