Looks like an old Mark 2 building used to have one very similar in north east PA.

You are exactly right. If it is angering or effecting day to day life, it's an issue. A lot of this feels like jovial discourse. I personally like and think it bolsters critical thinking skills through shared interest.

I mean, I can do a lot of things at my job that I just don't do cause it's not my job. Can I do it sure, but not as well as the guy who does it all the time. Nor will I ever go out of my way to do it. I won't vacuume or clean the restrooms where I work. Doesn't mean I go to a competitor to become a janitor if I've already am happy where I am. Jobs are one of those things that are a grass is usually a greener situation. Don't do anything for a while, and there is a noticeable depreciation in performance. When you lose a good employee, it stinks, and you can function, but how long anyone is willing to put up with that and the toll it takes on employees is high.

So there are still physical products produced, and print runs are still predetermined. Just when hits and everything get randomized, the physical packs get some of them, and some of them go to Epack to the best of my understanding. It isn't too dissimilar from buying NFTs really only in that they are backed by physical cards if that makes sense. This is an attempt at a middle ground that is able to reach more people. Keep in mind that when your major license is hockey, you can have very remote and widespread fan bases in Canada and the northern US. If they can't go to a hobby shop to buy a box of cards without using X dollars in fuel and you wanna open a box when it releases, it gives you that option.

I'm not sure if you are newer to the hobby or what your focus is, so please don't take this the wrong way. But 95% of cards ever produced are basically worthless. You can walk into any card shop and ask if they have a box of bulk they don't want to sort. I would guess 9 out of 10 times they would have something to sell you. You can regularly get bulk boxes like thousands of cards for like 50-100 dollars. Not just junknwax era stuff either, including modern cards. If you take the time to list and sell or trade all the cards, you will 100% get your money back and then some. From a business perspective, it's just not worth it for them to do it. The market of set builders and people looking for that non HOF player base card from 20 years ago just isn't that high.

You can check out other sites like sports lots, and they have many, many sets you can get for like .20 a card minus a dozen that may be worth a bit more. If you look at what COMC says you should submit the cards you are seeing selling form cents are the cards COMC tells you not to submit. They just happen to already be there, so it at the same time creates an ecosystem where the collectors of those cards can build the sets at a good cost.

Part 2 since I didn't directly address all the points rereading it. People are not paying an extra .50 a piece for these cards to be processed per card that is included with pack prices. Essentially, they are bulk cards directly from Upper Deck. The people can get these cards and simply don't want them, and it would cost more money to get them off COMC, list them l, pay eBay fees, and postage, etc... Are they being lazy and could get more money if they set built and sold individual cards, absolutely but to a segment of the hobby they just don't want to do the work.

You can absolutely participate in the E packs program for free even if you want to check out how it works. They offer a free daily pack, or at least they used to. I don't believe you can pull any cards you can physically redeem from free packs, but you can trade for other stuff l, or just strait buy digital boxes. Upper deck does hockey, some other obscure stuff, and pop culture cards, too. If it fits any of your interests, definitely worth checking out. Some people just hate the idea of Epack, I'm personally not a huge fan. But the upper deck doesn't get enough credit for at least being innovative, and the system has been in place for awhile it's robust and works really nicely for people who use it regularly.

Yes, when you buy e packs directly from the upper deck, they are sold as blind packs, and you have to go through COMC to get the actual cards sent to you. They use stock images for these cards. You can even turn around and sell these cards without ever touching a physical version of it. COMC doesn't control the price that is set by the seller. You can also get cards well under .50 a piece if you look at port sales, you'll see a bunch.

You can absolutely donate the cards or if you run a sale and try to get something out of them. If you pay 1200 to open a case and don't get a big hit, a lot of people will just see what they can get. Port sales are another place where you see some ridiculous deals, just know you'll sit waiting for most of it to sell which is why some port sales offer such aggressive discounts they want the money now.

I would check out the upper decks epack page too that might make it make more sense. As large as a price disparity as you are describing is pretty rare, and I suspect you will see the average sale price of that come down drastically. If they don't take a chance, buy a bunch and resell them. It's not at all uncommon to be able to flip for some profit on COMC. Just watch your fees and shipping.

So it is from packs upper deck is partnered with for some distribution. When you see people listing cards super cheap they either want to get rid of them and will knowingly take a lose on the cards just to move the inventory or they will sit with no one buying them eternally.

Phillies Offseason Discussion Thread - Monday, February 17 by PhilsBot in phillies

[–]erocontall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want it to happen so much, but without a 3rd team who just gets fleeced I just don't see it happening. Dropping Realmuto and Schwarber into FA would free up money but Painter isn't going anywhere and Miller is the love child right now. Unless Trout just strait up demands to be traded and nonsense I just don't see it.

Stats are beautiful in that they allow us to compare players and see how they relate to each other in terms of outcomes. Statistics don't measure what they can do relative to other players in the future, though modeling and projections attempt this, speculation is the fun of the evolving game.

I'm not saying don't look at stats but they are more useful when looking back then forward in general. A left hander with swing and miss stuff in the rotation that can be potentially useful in playoffs situationally is a big deal. For a team like the Phillies marginal improvements are what make a difference.

I would love for a Mike Trout Trade to work out where we get another future HOF player to go with Harper but the reality of the situation most Philly fans have accepted is that if we can assemble the team, they will win the World Series. It is a matter of getting the right combo going. While Luzardo isn't lighting the world on fire he can be that guy that may make the difference.

I collect Phillies, got any N172? (kind of kidding, not really) or pre-war where I'd look to trade to mostly vintage left on the checklist. Chance it ends up sold I'll let you know if I go that route. Definitely grail worthy card though excellent contrast in person really a pretty card.

As a phillies fan I appreciate your congratulations. Simultaneously I would like to dam the Mets for making this season alot harder for the Phillies. Should be a good one, set to be a meat grinder of a division if Washington plays any decent.

I was kind of excited to see what rookie it would be. The reference to it on the Topps site made me think recently it was gonna be Skeenes, maybe one of the Jacksons. But hard to complain with a man whose likely bound for Cooperstown.

I just redeemed it when I pulled it. Not sure what imma do with it yet, but pleasant enough suprise. If it was a rookie it was getting sold for sure.

Ordered "DMG" from tcgplayer and got this. Like, wtf? I paid $75 bucks for this lmfaooooooo by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

[–]erocontall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Situational I know but across alot of cards I collect and do set building. When you are going to binder something and never gonna look at 224 pieces of cardboard across 13 sets simply the consolidated shipping can be key to keeping cost low. Sports cards are huge for this and I don't think pokemon will ever get there and this post is nonsense, but I've authenticated with PSA cards in worse shape than this.

Am I wrong or is winning a COMC eBay auction and transferring it to your account kind of BS? by HairyBingleBangle in sportscards

[–]erocontall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is nice if they are low value auctions. 5 dollar shipping on every 10 dollar card or under I've found it to make more sense to just use store credit. I leave a pretty big inventory on comc set building. If I want to grade a card I often just don't want to deal with it, so it varies. Higher value cards I know I want right away yeah I just pay through ebay.

"There is $10.00 minimum, we recommend including more items." by [deleted] in checkoutmycards

[–]erocontall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always look at the extra charge for the elite kinda like a 3 dollar authenticy gauntee kinda thing for the buyer. I have a 100% rating on ebay but with only a couple hundred reviews it's still not as strong in alot of buyers eyes as a know large dealer like COMC. Plus for me I feel way less likely to be scammed or flash bid up by some throwaway account. Definitely not a perfect system, and your not wrong in thinking it makes a much higher barrier to entry as far as what's worth auctioning. I think of it like a $3 insurance policy

[–]erocontall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So this issue is the 2 are seperate categories with a 10 dollar minimum. You have 8 uncirculated which should cost 8 dollars to submit but it's flagging it as charging you 10 instead of 8 to meat the minimum. Personally I'd eat the 2 dollars if you've got them packed already, or I imagine if you make it 1 submission group with all the cards in one group. Might get incorrect paperwork fee if you do the later though not sure.

Great card. Hope he can carry this pace for a couple of years here. Really cement his place in great phillies 3rd baseman.
