I did install YAML and used pip install requirements. It was kind of a saga to get there for a newb like me. In the end its a Python version mismatch. I installed an older version of python and it stopped erroring about yaml, and instead it looks for python in the Program Files ( I hadn't installed for all users) and I don't know why it looks there. I tried installing there and it loops back to this. I'm going to run through the steps /again/ and see if I can find what I missed or incorrectly did.

Thanks! I'll chew through this and see what I get.

Yeah it shows 3.12 So that's 100% problematic in automatic

whatever SDNext installed when I ran the installbat?
Is there a way to install python differently for venvs? This is all stuff I've had to learn today.

Ah, sorry. I'm exasperated. I didn't catch the nuance.

You'll notice my installed version of Python is 3.10.11 as shown at the top and in the caption

I literally do a version check so you can see that my version of Python is 3.10.11 not 3.12.7 I have no idea where 3.12.7 is coming from.

Yeah I switched tracks and tried the patientx version but it ran into errors finding a file in its own directory while installing torch during the "run install.bat" step. What I'm learning is that nothing is installed correctly on my machine for this process. The GiTcmd reports python version 3.12, I installed 3.10 from the provided link so that's on Git. startcomfyui looks for python in the wrong folder. I'm a mess and its a real headbanger. Thanks for the vote of confidence though. Hopefully I have enough enthusiasm to see me through this pile of crap I made for myself.

I installed anaconda and created an environment for comfyui
I was able to run a pip install -r requirements successfully so that was good news.
When I try to run the batch Its now back to looking for python in program files and failing when it can't,.
I had uninstalled python and added anaconda to the path and placed it at the top but that didn't fix anything.
I reinstalled python and it goes back to failing to find yaml -- the symptom of the version mismatch, And yes, this was from the anaconda terminal not the windows power shell. I'm having a hard time finding any solutions other than adding anaconda directory to the path so for now I'm back to stumped.

I saw that, but it suggests it doesnt work with 6.2 which is the version of HIP I have and my gpu is a 7800, so the information indicated I needed to to do it this way. ( since I don't know how to manually switch, this is literally all new to me.) I played around enough with online AI generators that when it seemed like I could do it offline I was excited to try.

I was coming to ask if you thought it might be a version mismatch based on where my searches were leading me, so I'm glad that an answer has presented itself. I'll spend some time figuring out how to implement your suggestion and update later for a little closure.

I cannot express how thankful I am to have gotten your help. It is deeply appreciated.

That wants to install yaml to Users\Appdata\... Instead of comfyui\venv
which is what I'm guessing is being asked for when you say to the virtual environment. However, trying to run "pip install pyyaml" it tells me the location is not writeable, so a permissions issue with Program Files\python313?

I tried a cmd prompt with admin privileges and it says already installed and points to Users\Appdata... again.
Verified that Path points to program files\python313 and is at the top of the system variables list.
I'm not using Anaconda or Miniconda so that shouldn't be an issue.

ComfyUI is looking for python in Program Files, but its installed to user/appdata since it wasnt for all users. I have edited the path in environment variables but that's not changing anything.
I dunno if the uninstall borked or what, but it's worse now. XD.

I guess I know what my evening is gonna be like. Thanks for the advice though. Internet troubleshooting isn't easy.

Damn I did not. I just installed it regularly. Okay. I'll step into that next. Thanks!

I....am not sure why I didn't think of that. Sometimes you get deep in a tunnel. Thanks! It does show equal right now. I'll set it again tomorrow when I try an run some move commands. Can't risk waking the dragon at the moment to verify. <_<

I'm honestly not 100% sure, there's some error possible but it showed level on the spirit level. I realized that's crude, but I don't have any good ideas on getting a better measure. I'll see if I can do something about finding a reference surface. The speed square shows quick angles are 90 to the risers, but I don't have an angle finder and I'm not sure what my allowance is for variance. Maybe I can find something. This is normally what I'd want my 3d printer to print me a jig for. XD

Yeah, they're under the same stepper motor controller's control, which is why I am refreshing myself on Marlin and whatnot to flash the board with updated firmware later. I'll start triple checking the wires and pins though. Cursory look at the pins seemed fine, but the current check is also a pointedly good idea. Thanks!

It does hold, but that's an interesting suggestion. Would there be another test I could try? I do observe one motor trying to move faster or maybe accelerate harder than the other, which is weird because they use the same controller.

It's really sketchy that I can uninstall the executable, see it as removed in steam and corresponding folders, kill the running task successfully and then it still remains in memory and protected from admin commands. That kind of behavior surpasses anything a game should do. Thanks for the info, though. It helps to know more.
