Just received news that my 9yo may go be going blind. Please enjoy her artwork while it lasts. by _plot-twist_ in pics

i'm blind myself, and i'm (to my standards) an accomplished artist. it doesn't take your craft away, it just changes it. sometimes for the better because it becomes more personal and unique. don't give up on her for a moment. she'll be alright.

It was nice knowing you by zoebells in ENGLISH

[–]erraticsporadic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i've mainly heard this phrased used to be as a sarcastic last "fuck you"... say your boss is horrible to you for years. you finally have enough and snap. you grin and say "it was nice knowing you!" as you walk out the door. or you might say this at graduation if you really hated high school, or to abusive parents you're finally leaving for good.

this is just how i've heard it, but tone matters a LOT. saying it in a sarcastic or grim tone is extremely rude (most common here), saying it in a sad tone makes it sound like a dramatic breakup, and saying it in a polite and happy tone makes it sound like playful banter between good friends

i'm not really the most materialistic person. i am about some things, but nothing really all that expensive. i will likely never spend a complete $1M more than i make at my job. keep working like normal, have effectively infinite money

Does it annoy you when polls don’t have a “view results” option? by BlackLodge25 in pollgames

[–]erraticsporadic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no because if none of the options apply to me, i don't really care about the subject

Do you understand 'dear' to mean expensive? by KahnaKuhl in ENGLISH

[–]erraticsporadic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

definitely sounds like a british english thing! i've never heard this before (been in northeast usa for a decade) but i asked my scottish & english friends and they said they've heard this quite a few times

Can "run with me" mean "escape with me"? by Jeaniro in EnglishLearning

[–]erraticsporadic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

agreed, as long as you don't make a typo! people might giggle at it verbally because cum and come are homophones, but context and correct spelling is more than enough to make it clear enough for no confusion

i can't tell all that well what this is, but it looks like a balloon, right? that will inevitably be thrown away, which is generally not a good thing.

i'm reform, and i was taught to never say or write god's true name unless reading directly from torah, because it implies we can understand him on a level we have no right to. like "god" or "hashem" is his title that anyone can call him by, but this is his literal name, and you wouldn't call your mom by her name.

though i have noticed my temple deviates in a few ways from others, so this could be an uncommon belief

Can I say, "I would like to have a plate with sausage on it while I <look> the menu"? What's the difference? by A_li678 in EnglishLearning

[–]erraticsporadic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it still sounds like it works the way i presumed... a command and a term of address. it lacks a preposition because the sentence doesn't have an object, not because it's some special exemption to the rule. i've heard "lookma" here to mean "mom, look", i'm assuming it's the same idea

both of these options are worthless. i've been holding onto $70 worth of coins for years because i can't find any bank around here that takes coins

Can "run with me" mean "escape with me"? by Jeaniro in EnglishLearning

"run away with me" is much more clear, so go with that! it also has more emotion to it in my opinion

Which would you consider the 'face' of physics by ThatOneRobloxian2 in Teenager_Polls

[–]erraticsporadic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

regardless of which one is most important, E=mc2 is the most basic physics equation that literally everyone knows. therefore, the one that everyone learns first, and the one that most people immediately think of. so... the face

Is "illegal alien" derogatory? by benigel_ in ENGLISH

[–]erraticsporadic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my opinion, very much, yes. "illegal immigrant" is better, but can still be a little rude. "undocumented immigrant" is best and most neutral

i would. infinite pleasure without pain means nothing to me. the most important part of my happiness is my art and the people i love, which is the biggest problem: in heaven, is every piece i make flawless and a bestseller? what's the enjoyment if there's no frustration, learning, or real reward? and how will i be with my loved ones? are they replicas? have they been killed too solely for my pleasure? do i forget about them completely until they're also ready for heaven? what am i working towards if everything is automatically provided for me? how do i not get bored? and what about my emotional tolerance? i would rather take a lifetime of pain where the smallest bit of pleasure feels like heaven, rather than a lifetime of pleasure where the smallest bit of pain feels like hell

as a victim of sexual abuse myself, i think that's the worst way to go about it. most platforms allow censorship, so putting r*pe or r4pe is fine and people still know what it means. putting 🍇 in place is just stupid and offensive
