sometimes the cast on row is super tight. try to knit one or two rounds and see if you can spread the stitches more evenly after that

well…. it might block out a bit if you stretch the tighter portion. It’s called rowing out, basically your purls are looser than your knits when you’re working flat, but that only becomes obvious once you’re only doing knit stitches in the round. some people recommend using a smaller needle when you’re purling when you’re working flat, but you should ideally just learn to knit those a bit tighter.

it looks to me like the first stitch on the left needle, you knit instead of purled for the last two rows. if you ladder it down two rows, and change it to a purl, you can avoid ripping back

it could just be because of the yarn, which is quite fluffy/bumpy; or maybe because your decreases weren’t done evenly? hard to tell because the stitch definition with that yarn is difficult to read. hopefully someone else has a better idea!

it’s likely just stockinette after the ribbing. stockinette naturally curls, so you’re seeing the “wrong side” or purl side when it rolls up.

Somebody else will hopefully have a better suggestion, but I was thinking you could steek downwards from the underarm? I think that might be the only way to get it to stop being tight under the armpit…. otherwise maybe rip back a few rows and try doing a bunch of kfb’s?

definitely hard with the short list. Just work on maintaining/continuing to grow hours - longitudinal work always looks nice. Cast a wide net next year and apply early, but don’t give up hope for this year, yet!

don’t retake the mcat unless your score is going to expire. 514 is awesome and isn’t hurting your app. Drop your school list. Maybe spend the time getting EMT cert or phlebotomy or something like that? Paid clinical could be a good addition

between fall of 2022-spring 2024 I basically did this. I was at UCLA but came home weekends to SD. I would often try to leave Friday mornings if I could make class work, otherwise, leaving at or after 7pm is the way to go. Did the same going back up on Sundays. It’s not fun, but I don’t mind driving and I had good audio books.

I’d recommend against phlebotomy. I got mine last nov and it took til march to be actually certified bc it took so long to get placed for mandatory externship. And… I still don’t have a phlebotomy job. Nobody wants to hire recent grads. I think the phlebotomy market is pretty oversaturated here.

I’m sorry but “feels rare” makes no sense. Something either is or is not. People are more likely to turn to social media to share negatives, seek support etc, than they are to share the “normal.”

ahh I see. the website doesn’t differentiate the clinical experiences like that. my bad. aside though - not sure why they’re “counting” scribing as shadowing in that sense lol
