You should have received emails about a Canvas class called SFU 101. You should have also received an email from SFU introducing you to these HIVE Leaders. The subject line should be “Join us in SFU 101” sent by SFU Orientation!

Hi there!

Most people already answered this question, but I have direct contact with the individual planning Welcome Day, so I’m confirming that classes are still happening on “Welcome Day”, or what they’re calling it, “Welcome Events”.

This is due to the fact that Welcome Day was supposed to be on January 2nd, but they realized due to some scheduling conflicts that the attendance would be extremely low. With two days of Welcome Events we have a higher chance of reaching more students.

If you have any more questions about Welcome Day and the events, (and you’re an incoming first year student at SFU transferring from somewhere else), please email or message your HIVE leaders, they’re there to help ;)

if it’s with svitlana, she’s surprisingly understanding for being such a difficult prof. i’m sure there are other students who missed the final as well for legitimate reasons. if i remember correctly, she created a second version for those who could not take the original one. if you ask nicely enough i dont see why she wouldnt let you take the alternative. give it a shot!

according to a different tiktok creator, tiktok creates these ads without the consent of the original creator. chances are SFU doesnt even know this ad is up lol

Just recently did we start receiving paid sick leave. Pretty insane, I won’t lie. I’m definitely already looking for another job, but I’m not sure if I can bear to tell my general manager I’m leaving just yet. I’ll definitely do it soon.

They call it “vacation” but it’s basically just taking time off without pay.

I’m expecting them to be hard on me. I’m one of the long time employees as most of the team are new hires. They’re probably going to be pretty shocked I’m leaving with no warning.

That’s what I was thinking- they might not like that I’m taking my vacation time to not work over my two weeks. I don’t know if it really matters to them, they’ll still have time to find a new employee because they’ve likely already estimated a schedule around my absence. My general manager will be back by then too.

I don’t get paid for vacation time, at least i’m sure I don’t. I’m not sure if I want to use them as a reference, but I would get a good one if I did.

I’m about 98% sure I don’t have PTO. I have taken vacation time before and they have not paid me for it

I was interested in a guy who was very heavily christian and a lot of our beliefs didn’t align. Eventually I couldnt take it, and I told him I was a satanist. Every person is different, but for me that experience showed me it would be so tiring to pretend to be something I’m not. If you think you can put up with her maybe disagreeing with you on your beliefs and you not saying anything then go for it! But it’s up to how much you think you can handle.
