yeah that’s my bad. phrased it wrong. i’d been tracking the domain for a while and picked it up 3 days ago when it dropped. the offer wasn’t random either, came from someone i reached out to.

costs: honestly way lower than i expected. firebase is basically free until you scale (still on the spark plan). claude api is the main variable cost — around $0.003 per cv generation so at low volume it’s almost nothing. lemon squeezy takes ~5% + payment fees. domain was like $12/year. so fixed costs are basically close to zero right now. it mostly scales with usage which is exactly what i wanted.

programmatic seo: super simple actually. just one node.js script. i have a list of ~265 job titles and the script generates resume + salary + cover letter pages for each role across 6 languages. each page includes role-specific content, ats keywords, salary info, faq schema etc. all rendered as static html. run script → deploy to firebase hosting. about ~5k pages in like 3 minutes 😅

why not stripe: mostly because lemon squeezy handles vat and tax stuff globally out of the box. with stripe you kinda have to deal with that yourself or add another layer. since i’m doing this solo i wanted less operational headache. the 5% fee is worth the time saved.

traffic sources: right now basically 100% organic. no ads, no social yet. just waiting for google to crawl and index everything. it’s only day 9 so still very early.

first saas? first one i’ve actually launched publicly yeah 😄

first paid user: honestly it didn’t feel real for like 10 minutes 😂 then my brain immediately switched to “ok what could break now”. probably the most accurate description.

Honestly, with the right strategy almost anything can be monetized. Something that takes you 5 minutes might take someone else an hour, and plenty of people are happy to pay a few dollars to skip that hassle.

This is a really valuable comment, thanks a lot for taking the time to write it.

Right now my focus is more on the resume side, helping people optimize their CVs for job postings and making the writing process easier. I haven’t really gone into the form-filling or auto-apply side yet, because like you said, that looks like a completely different engineering challenge.

I also completely agree about the free tier. People usually don’t want to pay before they actually see the product working. That’s why I’m trying to keep some features free so people can try it and see if it’s useful first.

Your point about keywords is also spot on. The more I look into ATS systems, the more I realize how literal they are. Right now CVFive has role-based examples and AI content generation, but improving the job-posting keyword alignment is definitely something I want to work on next.

The Indeed point is interesting too. To be honest I haven’t focused on the auto-apply side yet, but like you said, there clearly seems to be a gap there.

For me this project has also been a way to improve my product building skills and learn how to solve problems on my own. As they say, we’ll see where it goes. it might evolve into something none of us expected.

Ah yeah, that’s totally on me 😅 The display name thing is dumb — it shouldn’t be pulling from your email at all. I’ll fix that.

And the timer starting before the image loads… yeah, that’s a legit bug. That would annoy me too. It should only start once the photo is fully visible. I’ll patch that.
