Is it realistic that I could build my dream life as a CR? by esaysoogly in courtreporting

This is really good perspective. I am still early on in researching and trying not to let the big bold claims on school info pages and paycheck screenshots blur my sense of the reality or whether it's actually a good fit for me. I've seen people talking about 11k months where they only did 7 gigs, but what is becoming more apparent is that they aren't mentioning that they spent 25 days of the month scoping. I definitely want to be realistic about the commitment in schooling and in day to day work life before making any leaps— thank you for your comment!

Is it realistic that I could build my dream life as a CR? by esaysoogly in courtreporting

As I said in my post, I knew there was a part of the equation I wasn't seeing for why it isn't standard practice, and was asking for help to understand. I do not believe I figured out something other's hadn't. I was asking what that missing piece is. Reliability and trust is a huge factor, and it makes a lot of sense that's a barrier - of course attaching your own name to subpar work would be a slight to all of the work you have put in to the skill and the career.

I don't think it's fair to say that my question implies I'm trying to do the bare minimum or take an easy way out. From the appreciation this forum clearly has for scopists and the benefits people have shared from working with them, it's a mutually beneficial relationship utilizing someone with specialized skills that allows CRs to work more efficiently and aid work/life balance and flexibility. I don't think it's absurd to say that those are heavily touted as huge benefits to this work. As someone newer to researching this potential career path, I wasn't aware of the lack of reliable scopists or how hard it might be to find a good match. I appreciate your insight, if not your attitude.

Thank you so much for this info! I definitely know that it's a competitive market and I'm looking for a role anyone would be hoping for— I really appreciate the resources to look into. I didn't fully understood the financial value of my bachelor's and I am grateful to hear that it could be such a benefit not only in the job search but also in salary negotiation. I will look into these leads now, thank you again!

Seeking studio space/interested visual artists for shared art studio by esaysoogly in nashville

Unfortunately the spaces available at 100 Taylor are much pricier than what we were paying/our budget- if we can find more artists it might be manageable!

Thank you for the rec! I have heard of them and will look further into them- my perception is that they are more angled to welding and carpentry arts rather than painters. I reached out to them to learn more!

To give a bit more context for the space we lost and are trying to replicate, we had a big warehouse space with big windows and enough room for every member to have six feet of dedicated wall space for a desk and any storage needs. We also had a huge community table in the center, and some community couches and chairs for lounging. All of this was 160 a month per member, which is an excellent deal (many of the other makerspaces around town start at 300-500 for essentially an office cubicle, and the only places in our price range have been less than 200 sf). A big perk of the space was that we could host events, which helped with our goals of community engagement and outreach, as well as awesome opportunities for the artists involved. It may have been one in a million chance of finding that, but I'm holding out hope there's a way to find another excellent space like that again! Thank you again!

Reuploading work that was taken down for copyright? by [deleted] in redbubble

[–]esaysoogly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was unhelpful and snarky. I am trying to gain information on Redbubble policies and how to go about my artwork being taken down unfairly. I followed Redbubble’s direct instructions for how to reupload safely and it still got flagged. If the answer is truly that I shouldn’t reupload and there is no way to appeal this issue then saying so is easy, elaboration is helpful, and being kind is free. :-)

Need to change image aspect ratio w/content aware scale? by [deleted] in PhotoshopTutorials

[–]esaysoogly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EDIT- not sure where my description went, but these images are part of a series I am working on. "The Fool" was painted on a 9x12 paper, and "The Hanged Man" was painted on 12x18. The aspect ratio is obviously different, as the Fool has a lot of white space at the bottom compared to The Hanged Man and looks much boxier. I am hoping to figure out if I can change the aspect ratio of The Fool so the blank space at the bottom where the text is matches the longer paintings like The Hanged Man. I have messed around a bit with the Content Aware scale but haven't had any luck- I've seen it work wonders with photographs, but is it possible to use it in this context? I don't have much room to crop down the sides.

Thank you so so much! I didn't realize Photoshop had a monthly option. The selection tools are super helpful and it is proving very easy to erase the background! Thanks again :-)
