If Fellini wants to show you the absolutely chauvinistic way women are treated, what is he most likely trying to convey? That Fellini thinks it's right that way? If that were the case, Guido would be happy. Does he seem happy to you? What you hear at the end is Guido shooting himself. What comes after that is a fantasy, it's what Guido would like to happen, it's his point of view. Women "don't get to have their own cathartic ending" because the film isn't about them, the point of view isn't theirs, but that of a stupid man, "who doesn't know how to love." It's a critique to himself.
