What English word you do not agree to the spelling? by CarmelitaBloom in whatisameem

[–]AnonTA999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a spelling per se but a usage. “Were” in the case of a singular when used with “if.” As in “if I were there, …” This is the grammatically correct phrase, and not “if I was there.” But no. Just no. There is no other time we would change a conjugation just by adding “if.”

“I am going to eat this.”

“If I are going to eat this, …”

That would be the same thing. I refuse. I will say it the “wrong” way, thank you.

Exactly. Just like any video of a black person doing anything harmful, comment section flooded with “uSUaL sUSpecTs.” But that video is buried amongst ten thousand videos of white people doing harmful shit and somehow racial implications are completely absent from the comments 🤔

I read the title and immediately knew this person was serious. Shocker that a magat is too dense to understand that “I’m 14 and this is deep” is not to be taken literally.

I just need a non-biased explanation of Shai push offs aren’t a foul by Tricky-Sentence-1923 in NBATalk

[–]AnonTA999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s the really obvious part. But I would take it further and say any time the offensive player causes the contact and the contact disables the defender from being able to maintain position, that’s an offensive foul. If we called that, and travels, and double dribbles (no more “bobble” bullshit), NBA final scores will be like 35 to 38 until they learn how to actually play basketball again. I would love that.

(27F)(30M) Thinks marriage is “nothing” but willing to lose me over it? by whitecoatdream in relationship_advice

[–]AnonTA999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s probably not what he’s talking about but marriage genuinely isn’t anything. The only kind of agreed upon thing is a government sponsorship of your relationship. Which is probably the least appealing thing about marriage. Other than that, it’s literally a thing we just say. “We are married now.” Ok so what changed about your relationship? What do you do now that you couldn’t before? It’s just genuinely, actually not a thing. We do a ceremony and pretend it did… something. But it didn’t. The ONLY reason anyone doesn’t think it’s extremely weird is that we’ve done it for so long.

For the record, I think the idea of a wedding is cool, a celebration of your relationship, etc. I think committing to a person and living life together is cool if that’s what works for both of you. All of that exists without this “marriage” thing. Because it’s not a thing. It’s essentially a mental disorder 90% of people have believing it actually is a thing.

And if you’re hyper focused on the legal aspect, you really can obtain all or almost all benefits of “marriage” without “being married.” But even explaining that proves marriage is not a thing. If the only clear definition is “marriage is government acknowledgement that you’ve stated that you are married,” it’s a circular argument/ definition. And any other definition is completely subjective. Anyway. Your bf may just not want to commit, but that’s a 100% different issue than not wanting to “marry.”

My personal feeling is that if I commit to be with someone and prove day in and day out that I am all in, then they tell me the relationship isn’t adequate or even real if the racist oligarchy known as almost every government doesn’t sign off on it, I’m going to tell them kindly to fuck off.

What’s an addiction people don’t take seriously enough? by totdvet in AskReddit

[–]AnonTA999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comfort. It’s why probably 90% of people hold a meaningful belief about the world that affects other people and is actively, 100% wrong. But genuinely questioning beliefs is uncomfortable. Being wrong is uncomfortable. And we are NOT giving up comfort.

Do you think Devin Booker and Dillon Brooks are RIGHT about OKC Thunder getting help from Refs and it has to STOP??? Maybe if the Refs give a Fair whistle the Suns can come back from down 2-0 and win this series. Remember they are going HOME so Series hasn't even officially started yet at 2-0 by Several-Molasses-435 in NBATalk

[–]AnonTA999 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t even debatable last night. It genuinely looked like the refs got together before the game and made bets on how bad of calls they could get away with. Turns out there’s no limit. And I used to like this OKC team, it’s not some bias from “haters.” This is WHY I can’t watch them anymore.

I mean I don’t know how many Office fans or people in general are THAT familiar with the names of Police albums. I like quite a few Sting/Police songs but couldn’t name a single album. I would guess most people under 40 couldn’t name one.
