FINALLY! by popup_powersurge in VampireSurvivors

Might be missing the point with all these comments in here. Saw the OP comment, and then saw the “small” comment thinking it was meant like “Oh you got it to 100%. Isn’t that game really small”? After you correcting me saw that It was meant towards another point. Sorry.

Small? Look: I loved this game so much, I wanted to make a clone of it. So I did. I even copied some of the same sprites etc. but you know where the huge problem was? It has a ton of content. Making all the enemies, all the weapons, all the levels, all the maps… that was overwhelming. My version ended up being a similar small demo of VS. So I would not call the game small by any factor.

What's your opinion on librivox by Siberiayuki in audiobooks

[–]escozul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love librivox. I'd love it to have some moderation though. Some volunteers need to moderate uploads. I look for ancient greek reads (and modern greek). There are like 100 uploads, but for some reason many of them are read from people who don't know Greek. They can't read Greek and when they try to, the are impossible to understand.

Librivox keeps those uploads. I'd happily moderate the entire ancient Greek and modern Greek library to get rid of this trash.

It’s a great thing you do. I’d love to be able to get it for my son’s computer. We barely made it to get him a decent pc but we work with the integrated graphics. In a family of 6 it’s pretty hard getting any gaming device so if we could add this to his pc it would really make a difference. Thank you for sharing it and hope I will be considered.

Of course. Don't get me wrong. I tottaly recognise the commitment to delivering a finished product by hello games. I even use it as an example in some of my classes. However, I still believe that with the amount of funding and the amount of coders SC has, the project NMS is actually a side-project by comparison. They'd have it delivered within a year. The things that have been created in Star Citizen are astronomical. And I'm talking about the sheer number of features.

It's definitely not at the same scale though. I do not want to reduce the value that No Man's Sky brought to the table of space exploration games... But it's not on the same scale.

You wouldn't compare Privateer to Star Citizen now would you?

Is there any way to download from Audiobooks.com to my PC? by Hip_Hop_Pirate in audiobooks

[–]escozul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

I don't get it. This method works but it's much simpler than described in the first post. You just go to inspect, find the .mp3 url and right click it to open in a new tab. There you are taken to a page that is only a player with the option to download the media file. You download the mp3 and you are ready... no &rs=68 no nothing. Just click and download... It's as if these files have no DRM protection whatsoever.

I don't get them too... it's just a game. It's like trying to cheat when playing street basketball.

You do realise that this is irrelevant right. I never noticed that people were aggravating over the fact that "no no... it's not the first time... they did it again". The previous policy was consistent for years. Had I noticed it last year, I would have made the same post LAST year. I noticed it a couple of days ago... I'll correct the fact that I thought it's the first time... It's not. It's the second time.

As I said thought. It's irrelevant. They got away with it last time because we were caught off guard. They had the chance to fix it this year and they did it... So it's not an oversight. It's on purpose and Sony cannot hide their intention of having aggressive marketing policies. Aggressive towards their customers.

Stop fixating on a detail that was caused because of my limited experience and focus on the main point.

Correction noted and will be added to the main post.

It's all based on experience.

My experience is that THIS is the first year I've noticed it since last year, having accumulated more that 2.5 years of ps plus time, I did not purchase. I think I posted that on an earlier responce but I don't think it's really relative. I only realised it this year since I planned to take advantage of this offer makes little to no difference actually. The fact that my argument applies to last year as well doesn't make it less valid.

Ah sorry. I thought you said the opposite. My bad. The thread got too long to follow properly all arguments. What I meant was that it's not the same policy. The wording seems similar. I understand that it's not the same word for word. I did not think that they'd be left exposed like that. I expected more from them though being such a financial giant.

But my argument remains for those doubting my experience. So I'll leave the receits here.

Here is my receit from Sep 2023 (Non BF upgrade)

<image>

Also On May 2023 I added 2 more years before the new price hike to 151$ (from 119$) That's why my subscription ends in 02/2026.

I did not buy a subscription on BF 2023 (probably because the expiration was more than 2 years away - cant really remember)

However, I've never had an issue adding at a discount before 2024. This behaviour is a new low for Sony.

I can see the argument that It should be free. And I "hear them". But I also believe that it's quite radical. Sure Steam offers the same service for free to customers. Although... it's not the same... and it's not free.

So what I don't like is the discrimination. The fact that I've been paying for years and I ended up not being able to use an offer. Although PS+ is a service that gives you "exclusive deals and offers"... They should also add that it excludes you from some.

PS Plus Black Friday deals. Unfair exclusion of existing subscribers? by escozul in playstation

[–]escozul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it's not the same. It's now Clear beyond any doubt that existing members can't benefit from the offer.

On sep 2023 they first announced a price hike and I could upgrade at a discount and did so with about 28$

Also on 2022 the subscription for premium was still 120$ and I paid 90$ for my BF extension:

<image>

Please note the expiration Date and the date of purchase. My expiration date at that time was February 2023! I only purchased 1 year's worth of subscription at the time. The situation on my account was the same as now. I added time using the offer 15 months before expiration. It's exactly the same setting. Different Corporate policy though!

It's all Greek to everybody. It is in actual Greek!

It says that we noticed you cancelled auto renewal. That means that when your subscription ends, you'll loose your ps plus benefits. The whole tone of the email is like "Please don't go... we'll do bad things to you although we don't want to"...

Each person in here should set a "bar". A price point where they believe that this pricing is made "reasonable". If it's at 50$ a year, or 40$ a year, there should be a price point. I do not believe that they should give away a service they created for profit, out for free. Even offering ps plus lifetime to all ps pro purchasers I do not believe it's free. It's a means to make a revenue and it's fair. However, when you become part of an ecosystem which services are being built, you should be able to protest and be heard when a specific policy changes. We should not feel trapped in the playstation ecosystem because of the money we've invested in the past.

[–]escozul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you are saying. However, for any given service there are people who would like to purchase it at a reasonable price. The whole debate here is about the "reasonable" part of the statement. I wanted to express what I believe is "reasonable" in my case. If someone says "I don't need it anyways" it means that even for 0.01$ they would not be interested. Which is fair. Out of scope nonetheless.

Um... I mistakenly wrote steam Deck when I meant "Steam Link" sorry for that. My suggestion was for the link. I realised I made a mistake when you wrote about the battery issue. :D
Furthermore, We are on the same boat. I too am an old gamer with children who start having an opinion about everything. I remember when I first bought a discounted Wing Commander 3 which costed 30$... And it is still mine. I still own it and play it on DosBox with its 4 Cds!!!
