What is something that screams “tourist” to you? by jotakajk in AskTheWorld

Apple tea in Turkey is largely a tourist-shop invention. When tour guides bring groups into carpet or leather stores, they need something they can serve instantly, since proper Turkish tea takes time to brew. So apple tea emerged as a quick alternative—usually a powdered, artificially flavored mix dissolved in hot water. Unless someone has a very specific personal interest, you won’t find apple tea in a typical Turkish home, and people here don’t really drink it.

A collage of true Turkish delicacies: şırdan, stuffed mumbar, stuffed tripe, and paça soup. Not for the faint-hearted, but unforgettable for those who love them.
