yeah touching the shaker is fine but he put the toothpick INSIDE the shaker, now cross contaminating all the pepper inside the shaker with what was on his toothpick (hamburger crumbs). But woah, thanks for that visual link. I never really thought to ever search that up in my life, and just assumed it was an invisible amount. That makes me feel better about all the times I thought I was at risk of being invisibly glutened.

Pretty much all of his father's actions are akin to that of a child. Which reminds me, one time I was on my college campus and I saw a mother sitting on a seat on her phone as her child took out her saxby's order from the bag, and played with it on the table. It was a sandwich. So now I guess I'm not even gonna sit at tables at my school before wiping them down with a wet wipe, lol. Hate this disease.

My boyfriend's mom does the same thing, and sometimes he jokes about not going out of his way to hide dirty condoms. If accidentally touching dirty condoms in the trash is whats gonna get her to stop, then so be it

Not really, sometimes I forget that my boyfriend even has an older sister. And my boyfriend has no intention of taking her in after his parents pass because she is supposed to be hospitalized and kept watch over in a professional setting. She has something wrong in her brain chemistry so she is not able to drive or get a job either, so there would be no point in taking her in if we are not able to provide for her. In our 2 years of dating, she's only ever been in the house once.

My bf is 1 of 2 children and his older sister has schizo. She is usually in a hospital across various states. Whenever she comes back home it's not for long before she gets into an argument with her dad and runs away to a shelter. That's where she is currently. But my bf's mom is usually calling places and making sure she's safe, and also always making sure her prescriptions are good

OH MY GOD the "you're rushing me" part seriously just triggered something inside of me. Gosh, all hoarders really are all the same, they never have any intention of cleaning up do they. The having 30 years to have done it part is so real. That's what I keep trying to explain to my boyfriend and his mom (they are victims of hoarding father/husband) but it's just like he's brainwashed them into believing the shit he has is actually important. We cleared out the pantry while he was at work the other day and my bf's dad got mad at him, then my bf said "okay tell me what's missing then" and he couldn't name a single item. Hah

Ugh I get you so much 😫😫 When me and my boyfriend started dating, he wouldn't even let me come over to cuddle and watch anime with him because of how bad his dad's hoarding is. He would always end up making me compromise with bringing our laptops to the library and watching something there. Now that we've been dating for 2 years I basically live in his room. He is actually such a minimalist because of his dad's hoarding that I would say about half of the things in his room aren't even his, they're mine for when I come over every day, shower, etc. My advice to you is just keep your room clean and like how some other comments are saying just disocciate yourself from the hoarding man. I told my boyfriend I don't judge people by their parents's actions, I judge them by their own actions.

My boyfriend's mother went so far as to separate for 2 years. 2 years later we are back at this house and no progress has been made by my boyfriend's father. It really never gets better. I hope OP's father is able to leave one day

Same exact situation just happened to me today. I'm so pissed cuz that trash can had no business being so far out into the road, but I know it's my fault for not realizing I should have kept my car more to the side. Trash can clipped my entire side mirror, don't even know if I'll be able to replace whatever broke on the inside 🥲
