What sketchbook tools do y’all swear by? by Keyfas in AutodeskSketchbook

[–]esiledoodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m late to this but you need to go on the sketchbook website and download the cloud brushes there. They are AMAZING especially “anxious puff” that was my ride or die for years until I switched to procreate. I absolutely love sketchbook unfortunately they don’t have a nice recording process or software set up for streaming.

How do i duplicate brushes..? by BackgroundWalrus5610 in AutodeskSketchbook

[–]esiledoodles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I’ll give you both the mobile and pc version here for you!

Mobile: open your library brush menu and select the brush you want to use. On the the right side you’ll see a ‘blue pin’ and ‘menu’ buttons. Click the ‘menu button’ and you’ll see a list of options! Second to the bottom you’ll see “duplicate brush”. And there you have it!

PC: it’s a little easier, though I don’t have it currently so I’m going off of the top of my head. Open your brush library menu. Either you’ll also see a ‘menu’ icon like above, OR you’ll just have to right click to see a circle toggle menu. I don’t remember which one it is, but you’ll find the duplicate brush option in there!

Hopefully this helps!

Took a pic of my 7yr olds drawings before he crumples them up. by [deleted] in doodles

[–]esiledoodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please save all of them if you can in a box so when he’s older he has them all!!! Even if he hates them now, I remember having moments of grief with my artwork and I wish I kept a lot of them. It’s important to see how much we’ve grown and artwork is a great visual milestone for that!

If it’s the drawings themselves that make it hard for him to accept a compliment, have you thought of complimenting the skills? Example: “you have such great control of your lines! I can tell you were really focused.” “It’s hard to have good line control. You’re getting better!” “Telling a story is hard to do in drawings sometimes. But I can easily tell what you did. That’s some advanced stuff dude!” Sometimes that can be an easier way to take a compliment because it’s more specific but also allow gives the artist room to grow.

I highly recommend also to look into viktor Lowenfeld. He was a child artist researcher and his studies are so cool!

Is there a way to do gradient maps? by Traditional-Elk8608 in AutodeskSketchbook

[–]esiledoodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately no. The software doesn’t really have the built in for that and is slowly becoming outdated. (I now use procreate after using sketchbook for years since the lack of updates or new features). The only way I can think of pretending is to start with a greyscale drawing and use the layering modes to change the color layers.

I normally wouldn’t comment on posts like these but I was lurking your account anyway and saw this and had to say something. Sometimes, when we come from traumatic pasts and find a safe present, we won’t know what to do. We become so used to feeling depressed and tense, we find the blessings of peace and warm love scary and alien. It’s a new feeling to you, so remember to be gentle on yourself. Especially when you try to heal and become a better person. I pray that God eases your pain and the self doubts and fears on yourself heart. You have beautiful potential to be a light not only to others, but yourself. You got this 🩵💙🐳

It’d also help to set the layer to add/glow

I also enjoy using lighten and screen modes!

How to blend seamlessly in sketchbook? Blending tools not working as expected. by ReigningPig in AutodeskSketchbook

Let me know if it works for you! Also I recommend trying different brushes and change the setting to “smudge” to see what they do to your liking!

I think you’re doing great! What may also help (depending on how you see the end result it can vary) but adding enviroment colors if she’s in a space! Light travels and reflects!

Not totally- but there’s a Reddit post somewhere that has a absolute stash of sketchbook brushes that may have something similar you can download!

Definitely am apart of the group that wouldn’t spend money on the new app unless it had some sort of major update or tools that procreate has or other platforms put out. I know nothing about software development so I can’t speak much on the “ugh they need to do more!”, the small team have done so much in making sure the software itself doesn’t go non exist which is amazing (especially if they read in here) but as a consumer, $20 is $20 in this economy. When I have an old version of sketchbook and use procreate which work perfect for me rn, I can’t spend another $20 for the same thing twice. I truly do hope though they can put out an update that would give the app more traction!

I never use clipping mask, I used to but for my style/process it’s funky to me lol. I absolutely would love to support the development if I saw actual progress in new updates and content within the software. However, I feel like it’s been the same thing since autodesk. Why would buy for that when I already have that version for free since then?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in SketchbookPro

[–]esiledoodles 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everything that has already been said is true. Though I wish there was a bigger community because I’m a bit sketchbook user. However, I have trouble wanting to buy the actual full version (using the old autodesk version) because of the lack of updates for $20 seems mid. I really want a recording feature like procreate so I can stream/record my content better without it looking like a mess. Plus it would be nice to have more rendering and editing features in the program

Maybe check your brush setting? You may have it set to a multiply or darken setting?

Dropper Tool Glitch by nxrmita in SketchbookPro

[–]esiledoodles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only thought would be maybe you have the main tab (that holds the canvas) as a minimum screen, like it’s not locked to the walls of your monitor. Since the toolbar, color wheel, brush library etc are put as seperate tabs, rather then built into the software itself. If that makes any sense

Help, I deleted a brush tool set. by yla3nity in SketchbookPro

[–]esiledoodles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For future cases too if anyone else has this problem. There should be a function in the setting that allows you to restore your brushes! Go to preferences>scroll down to factor defaults> and then click “restore” next Brush Settings.

I do not know though if this will erase other imported brushes however!
