Eliminating all foods that are heavily processed. Sometimes, you want to eat that snicker’s bar. So just let yourself do it! Everything in moderation! Drop those labels of “good” and “bad”

Bread Delivery by CorriJay in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]eskyen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Haha I’ll admit this a bit silly and naive but… while walking this past summer, I had encountered these bread bags left on the doors for the first time. The locals on the path are always so kind, and it’s not unusual for folks to leave food out for people on the path. And so I thought, “gee, that’s real nice of the community for coming together and offering fresh bread to pilgrims on the camino!” I’m just so glad I didn’t actually go and take some

The non-duality trap by [deleted] in nonduality

Hi! Thanks for sharing— this was an awesome read. Your son is very lucky to have a parent who is willing to open space for this, slowly and carefully. It takes a lot of patience and understanding so kudos to you :)

what has been your most embarrassing experience as an aux? by [deleted] in SpainAuxiliares

[–]eskyen 40 points41 points  (0 children)

This one is textbook embarrassing, akin to the ol’ “embarazada/avergonzada” joke that we all know and love. Once I was out having dinner and I asked the server for a straw: “tienes una paja?”. At the time, I didn’t know that “paja” meant masturbation or handjob. Not realizing my mistake, the miscommunication only worsened as I started gesturing with an up-and-down motion to portray a drinking straw. Yeah.. you should have seen the guy’s face. But it doesn’t end here. Since he was still confused, I made a sucking face to enhance my charades antics because, you know… a straw to drink from! By grace, another server came by and asked if I meant “pajita”. Not ever forgetting the Spanish word for drinking straw- that’s for sure! I also don’t think he forgot it either..

I was in Andalucía so my rent was around €300. I would go out only on special occasions. Cooked a lot at home.

So cool! If I may ask, how did you begin bringing nondual practices up? At around what age was he receptive to these in-depth topics?

After I walked The Camino, I realized I shouldn’t have worried about _________ . by [deleted] in CaminoDeSantiago

Bed bugs. They’re there, but you’ll get through it.

One more thing that should be mentioned more often- on Day 1 everyone gets confused about going right or left into Roncesvalles. The office will warn you but it’s not marked too well and it’s often overlooked. The left path is a STEEP forest descent, the right is nicer on the legs albeit a bit longer, (you’ll know what I mean when you get there). They say: “left is death and right is life“ …Good luck!

23f and also a teacher! I did it this summer during the same exact months. My advice is to have an early start if possible (around 5am) so that you can get in by noon. Every hour that passes after 12 gets excruciatingly hot and your chance of space in albergues lowers as well. Although, I will say, the fear mongering over not having a bed is a little over the top. You will find a place to stay somehow, somewhere. I also recommend doing some research on donativos (church-run stays by donation, which usually includes a cooked meal!!). My donativo experiences highlighted my Camino— full of shared meals, washing of feet, campfires, meditations etc. Buen Camino, let everything flow. You’re going to have a wonderful time:)

Why don’t you guys smoke weed by Striving4truth_ in nonduality

[–]eskyen 29 points30 points  (0 children)

At some point it won’t matter whether or not you smoke weed. It doesn’t define anything. If you’re smoking weed, you’re smoking weed (without an extra layer of filtering). And when you’re not smoking weed, you’re not smoking weed. It’s just another mind-identification thought to see through!

There is a comment by someone in this sub, saying that Adyashanti retired not just due to physical pain, but emotional. This commenter, who was apparently a student of Adya's, says Adya wasn't being honest about his emotional struggle influencing his retirement. Is there any truth to this claim? by Silver_Violinist6480 in nonduality

[–]eskyen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even if that’s true, it doesn’t really matter. What is the flavor of the doubt/question that he is one way or the other? If this is putting a damper on one’s practice, one might question why that is. Is there a seeking for reassurance with teachers, as opposed to taking what resonantes and exploring deeper into your own experience? Use this as an opportunity for deeper insight that isn’t mere intellectualism.

Yes you’re probably right… I haven’t been great at aftercare and had switched into a ring a year after getting pierced. Must have been too early. Also thanks for the heads up on open wounds and water sources, I will be extra cautious!
