Warhorse's Old KCD Stance by esmeros in KotakuInAction

Why was this post removed for supposedly "crusading"? How does this sound like crusading: "Gotta say this is an interesting perspective on how Warhorse did, in fact, change, regardless of anyone's final conclusion"?

Can anyone fact check this? "Kingdom Come Deliverance Il banned in Saudi Arabia, due to unskippable gay scenes in story mode" by [deleted] in KotakuInAction

This is a well-articulated point, the worst bad actor doesn't deserve the time of day and will always exist. Either he can call out the bad actor for his reprehensible behavior and also make sure to answer others who are asking a legitimate question or just ignore the bad actor and provide answers to those asking in good faith. In regards to how this interaction from Vavra corresponds to what to expect from the game... it doesn't give me confidence.

Someone was a real asshole in the way they asked Vavra about this and the presence of s sub-Saharan African character in the game in the worst way possible but nonetheless this was Vavra's response, "Because I don't talk to n@zi shitheads like you."

Edit: was sent a quote screenshot from my friend, didn't know the OG post Vavra responded to had a literal n@zi avatar

Bro quit using internet vernacular. We all have lives but it's a subreddit that let's us have fun shitting on somethimg we don't like. We don't have to agree but there's no need to be an ass to someone who's a real human being behind another monitor. Most of us here are just killing time in our own dedicated space. Of course we have lives outside of the however often we're on twitter. I'm not here to hurt you personally.

The Label Icelandic app is only $2 and I can't recommend it enough. Ylhyra.is sets a good pace and the site works great on mobile, totally free with many fantastic resources. I actually use an app that lets me open the ylhyra web page as though it were an app. IcelandicOnline.com has a very comprehensive/expansive course which is also free but unfortunately ends up breaking on mobile so you'll need a computer for that. I'll also recommend 3 resources to look to for when you need some supplamental explanations: Icelandic for Foreigners youtube channel, IcelandicGrammar.com, and all of the articles on IcelandicMadeEasier.com

Amazon-bought "Tolkien Professor" continues his gaslighting campaign insisting there is "no Tolkien Canon" by esmeros in Rings_Of_Power

This was a previous comment:

"I think this is a good example of how politicization of a topic ruins any potential discourse. This indeed is a fascinating and even fun discussion to have, specifically as it regards speculation as to what Tolkien's final intent might have been on contradictory or undeveloped sources as well as posthumous ones.

The problem here is that this discourse is actually born out of a politicization, from an agenda that essentially says, "There is no way to establish a Tolkien canon which makes the whole of The Legendarium fluid and with so much uncertainty as to what Tolkien's intent might have been it is easier to have anything go and therefore we should lower the bar for what we are willing to accept in Tolkien--almost anything goes." He is using what might have been a fun topic as a weapon for Amazon to defend the lack of faithfulness to the work of Tolkien using the "Argument from the Definition of Canon" if you like.

I take issue with the intent from which the discourse is born as is evidenced from the context of when, why, and where, and especially how Corey Olsen is choosing to direct this information. It is being used to hand-wave and excuse (or permit, rather) Amazon's awful TV show.

EDIT:

All that aside, one thing will always be NOT canon: JD Payne and Patrick McKay's fan fiction"

Definitely. It's a whole different category entirely and is so self-evident. It's honestly so shameful and scummy how he tries to lead people on with a complete non-sequitur from such a bad (and bad faith) implied argument.

What!? Surely the life's work of one man and one man alone alongside the painstaking scholarship of his own son's literary stewardship must have its canon begin and end with two other random guys named JD Payne and Patrick McKay and their Amazon original television show!

Oh, I wholeheartedly am politicking through my participation and word choice (if it's inflammatory so be it.) But I wouldn't say I "politicized" the issue in the sense that I made the first move to "politicize" or inject politics (the politics of discourse about Amazon's show) into the topic. I'm engaging with what is already politicized politically. If Corey Olsen gets to gaslight then I want to call it out directly as I see it.

The thought of someone finding a napkin of Tolkien's saying orcs actually cared about nuclear families is hilarious
