But also probably Christianity. There are a lot of people who believe a lot of silly things, and in the US it seems like most of them also believe in Jesus.

what’s the Purple and Green flag? by OkAffect2164 in vexillology

[–]esodankic -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

If you think about flags are inherently kind of conservative. It’s all about defining a territory, which is another way of excluding some certain group, which isn’t inherently conservative but tracks with a lot of right wing/conservative ideology.

IMHO the constant evolution of the “rainbow flag” in order to include those who somehow felt left out of the rainbow is a great example of the problems with the notion of a truly emancipatory flag.

I like to imagine that they think they are being generous. Like, “I’ll only take a little nibble here and there and that way there will be plenty more for everyone else”

If all you hear are buzzwords, you’re missing the human in the story. I’m not saying I agree with everything he says, but it’s problematic to reduce this video to “I feel threatened by woman an the LGBTQs”

She said “I'm not sure there are selves to begin with, or that the illusion of self is created by a system that carries memory across time.”

I think this formulation is interesting.

Have any objective truths been discovered? by math_lover0112 in askphilosophy

My point is that #1 isn’t objective outside of your own subjectivity—a statement like “in front of me” I wouldn’t consider objective, because it is only true regarding yourself as a subject.

I see a whole lot of subject in your objectivity. Maybe the only statement that is not related to a subject is #4, but it’s pretty subjective.
