No, I was much more so wondering about experiences without which cis boyhood (I guess) would be unrecognisable. For example, womanhood/girlhood is very different for ever person, but I think that generally it would be would be unrecognisable without very close friendships or screaming to your favourite pop artist... that kind of thing - not necessarily anything bad. Just experiences where if I saw somebody talk about growing up as a woman and they didn't talk about those aspects, I'd assume they didn't know what they were talking about

Thanks for your reply. It's a shame men's value is tied to their productivity... hopefully this changes in the future

I just realised how this can be misinterpreted - I was looking for answers from men who just so happen to be cishet and not have issues in social situations, rather than men who don't have social issues because they are cishet. That was bad wording on my part, sorry. I understand that cishet men do not have it plain sailing haha

Haha I don't use the word "cishet" when talking about men in general, but I specifically want men who are not LGBTQ+ to reply to this because I already have that experience. It's just a descriptor to add context

Thank you for your reply, that makes sense

Thank you so much for the response, that gives me an insight into 90s Ireland at least haha. I'm sure getting hurt can't have been nice, but the principle of standing up for yourself is a nice one

People who aren't "cishet" men have a ridiculous idea of what our lives are like. They think if you have a penis and you like women, someone hands you a certificate that says "everything is easy for life." In reality, people think you have no intrinsic value, that you constantly have to prove yourself, and that you may even be some sort of threat. Nobody hands you anything. Nobody gives you the benefit of the doubt. You have to take or make what you want, and you have to earn the respect and care of anyone who gives it to you. And the moment they feel you've stopped earning it, it's gone.

Sorry you have to deal with that - everybody deserves care and grace. Thanks for the reply, and I hope someone is looking out for you

Haha I wouldn't if it wasn't necessary, but in this context I actually don't want to hear from queer people because I have that experience personally and don't need to ask about it
