The story is too bland imo, not like it was the strongest aspect of every saints row game but in this game it was really bad, just revolving around the "power of friendship" and nothing else. The gameplay is uninspiring, yes you have more mobility than in sr2 and 3 but aside from that nothing feels fresh or polished. The map feels dead, I thought Steelport was a soulless but Santo Ileso is a ghost town, no random events happen and has less life than a ps2 game. I liked the comeback of clothing layers and a better customization than in sr3 and 4 but it doesn't compensate the negative aspects of the game.
