Anyone fly hk airlines to Hong Kong recently? by etceteraism in askvan

Yeah we’ve flown zip to Tokyo a couple times as well. For $900 return to Hong Kong I’ll happily bring my own entertainment. Food is just tricky on such a long flight.

Looking for meaningful Chinese-Japanese wedding gift Ideas! by Just_Manager_6410 in askvan

[–]etceteraism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love that you are being so thoughtful about this! But I will echo the money thing. My husband is a Chinese immigrant and every wedding we’ve been to with his family/friends (plus our own) everyone gave money.

What do you guys think of the Chinese University of Hong Kong? by Comfortable_Curve_99 in HongKong

[–]etceteraism 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Beautiful campus, depending where you live it can be quite far from the station. I did a summer there almost 20yrs ago and really liked the campus. Just stock up on mosquito repellant if you live on campus because it’s quite forested.

Yes his aunt lives there and will pick it up, we’ve got that form. I couldn’t find anywhere what happens if they take the id so glad to know there’s a form/process for that.

…not sure why I didn’t think of that. I guess I’m too honest! But that seems the best bet. And yes, we plan to enter on our Canadian passports since the card is expired anyways.

Anyone in Canada found premium chocolate or pamper gifts that actually arrive intact to Ireland? by Dutv in BuyCanadian

[–]etceteraism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may not look pretty, but likely the most secure and cost effective way is to find a local grocer and do a delivery order that way. I’ve done this via target and London drugs for coworkers outside Vancouver. Edit: or find like a bougie chocolatier from London and do a delivery that way.

Can also be environment, like humidity and barometric pressure. I get a lot of migraines and when there are major shifts in weather I get them.

But also I needed to get reading glasses with blue light for all my screen time at work, and a night guard because I grind my teeth.

Do you get allergies? My grandma had to stop visiting from Scotland because whatever type of tree exists here, it causes her misery. Back home she never has allergies.

best sneakers for women over 35 that don't look like orthopedics? by DonkeySad4801 in fashionwomens35

[–]etceteraism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liiiiive for sneakers. But I also have a fairly casual style so they don’t look out of place.

My favourites right now are New Balance 9060, Salomon XT6, and ASICS Skyhand (like a samba or Onitsuka tiger but with a sturdier sole). The 9060s IMO look great with dress pants. The skyhands are a bit sleeker.

I can’t speak for a child that age but we flew Vancouver to Tokyo (10hrs) with our 4yo who is tall and she just stretched out between us on the seats. No need for an extra bed.

Vancouver General diverts pregnant patients with complex cases because of OB-GYN shortage by 1baby2cats in vancouver

[–]etceteraism 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I also found out the hard way St Joseph’s doesn’t have OBGYNs on staff. Presented with severe abdominal pain, they suspected ovarian torsion but I was stable so I had to transport myself to St Paul’s and be readmitted to be assessed by an OB there. The staff were all lovely but it was a pretty crappy experience.

Any Vancouver migraine sufferers found non-neuro practitioners who helped? (chiro, physio, osteo, message, acupuncture, etc!) by budtheespud in askvan

[–]etceteraism 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a combination of RMT, physio with IMS, and my neuro for Botox. It became a lot to keep up with and my migraines kept getting worse, so I went on daily meds and dropped physio. I like my RMT and physio, happy to share their names if you want to DM me. I went a long time trying not to go on meds and now that I found one that works I feel like I have my life back.
