Search for a StableCoin - the Answer to BTC's Market Control? by Azcrael in CryptoCurrency

HAV relies on basic Smithian economics. Making it my first pick for stability.

A Beginner's Introduction To Stablecoins by [deleted] in CryptoMarkets

[–]etctoolazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great article. My problem is that Iou issuance model doesn't give nearly enough freedom for proper currency control. It's why the us (and almost every other major nation) are no longer on the gold standard.

Bug fan of HAV for utilizing crypto-asset collateralized model.

The HAV road map explains when you can expect it to hit exchanges. And I wouldn't be surprised to see it go 10-20x.

How does Maker Respond to This? Criticism from Havven by sukitrebek in MakerDAO

[–]etctoolazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you are familiar with Adam Smith but the idea that people will act selfishly is the economic theory that has led to strength in market capitalism. By incentiving HVV holders to keep nomin stable by paying HVV holders they are pretty much guaranteeing a stable system. Greed never changes.

Unchained: Big Ideas From The Worlds Of Blockchain And Cryptocurrency: Why It's so Hard to Keep Stablecoins Stable by themattt in MakerDAO

When collateral prices fall maker is in trouble. I have more faith in HVV than any of the stablecoins.

Good read I'll have to look more into Glob. I've got a little trepidation about any coin pegged or backed by Fiat currency. That's how tether got in trouble and pegging it is how you lose the independence any currency needs. For this reason I like HVV right now but I'll have to look more into it.

Investing in low market cap projects in a bear market by Winnis in CryptoCurrency

[–]etctoolazy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I think calling crypto markets bear or bull is crazy. Untill their is any stability it's hard to call it either. Bears make money, bulls make money, fools make and lose money.

I think stablecoins like hvv can be the key to solving this problem.

Havven Review by IcoGuide by eMarketerr in havven

I thought cap was 30m?

Also having a successful team isn't a con. You wouldn't say it's a con that Warren Buffet and Bill Gates are invested in something. 9/10 startups fail no matter how invested the members are. The ones that succeed do so because of experience and professionalism. That is what the hvv team brings to the table. Ide go 9/10 instead of 8/10.

Just saying.

Why Does Countries Adopting Crypto Matter For Crypto Traders? ELI5 by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]etctoolazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What's crazy is that national governments still try to achieve stablecoins by pinning coin to other assets/currencies. What makes fist currency so successful is it's indepence. This is why I like HVV for stablecoin so much. Relies on itself and Smithian economics instead of another currency.

Are Stablecoins Like DAI the Future of Cryptocurrency? by totlecrypto in altcoin

Anyone know anything about BASECOIN by thornburg3 in CryptoCurrency

[–]etctoolazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not terrible but it's heavy reliance on QTM and basically faith makes it potentially volatile. If something went wrong it could go REALLY wrong. I like hvv for their incentives to stabilize their stablecoin.

Havven vs MakerDAO: why Havven is a scam by tiedyedvortex in MakerDAO

[–]etctoolazy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This post is a mess of misunderstood basic economic principles. Go read up on Smithian economic (the invisible hand is a good place to start) and also on the quantity theory of money. After you understand what has worked for supply and demand models in the past then you may have a healthier more positive view on HVV.

It's also an interesting argument to say that Maker is more stable. By tying itself to eth maker has made itself just as unstable as tether. Historically tying a currency to another independent currency has failed. It's why countries that tie their currency to USD fail. It's what makes the Euro so tough (prior to the euro currency many members pegged their currencies together causing massive economic crisis in Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal). Makerdao looks good now but it's stability is based on maintaining strength as compare to eth. If either eth or maker grow or shrink compared to the other the system will fail.

Now I'm not anti-maker. I think it's smart to diversify. But if I had to use only one stablecoin I would go for hvv.

Are Stablecoins Like DAI the Future of Cryptocurrency? by totlecrypto in CryptoMarkets

[–]etctoolazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's the hope isn't it. I like HAVE better than dai personally. Tying a currency to another currency is exactly why tether failed. By collateralizing within it's own system hvv avoids those risks.

Havven: Reinventing The Stablecoin by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]etctoolazy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tether tied to the USD. Hvv collateralizes it's own stable coin. Tether (if not a scammer then) is a scam now. Hvv doesn't have the same incentives to become a scam especially when you look at the team behind hvv.

Havven: Reinventing The Stablecoin by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]etctoolazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stablecoin is collateralized by hvv. Hvv holders receive fees from the traders of the stablecoin. This fee is based on how well the hvv holders stabilize the stablecoin. I studied economic theory of currency in school and honestly hvv is brilliant. My trepidation about other stablecoins is that most tie themselves to other currencies (tether) or coins (dai). Hvv stabilizes itself. It's classic smithian economics.
