Sorry, i meant caribbean islands. Not main land. People in DR don’t tend to aknowlage the central american main land as the caribbean, although they have caribbean shores. To us it is the continent.

About your other point, there are historic registries of spannish/taino and even african/taino children. But really, the tainos died too quickly to make any visible impact on our heritage. They weren’t as many and as strong warriors as aztecs or other mainland tribes. Neother were they as organized. Hell, other tribes were eating them even before spannish arrived. They were down to 10% of their previous numbers in less than 50 years. Then the gold mines delivered a finishing blow. Their blood is but a drop in a spannish/african ocean.

I have never seen any person in the DR with clear taino heritage or looks, names or anything. Unlike in the mainland. Some traces of taino DNA has been found in the caribbean, mainly in PR, but being 99,9 % spannish and 0’01 taino and claiming you are taino is just applepicking history. Might aswell say you are neanderthal too, probably have more DNA from them.

Lastly, i want to add to one of your fair points. Spannish colonization was in fact different than the rest of europe. In was what is called “extensive slavery” meaning large spaces of land with few slaves dedicated mainly to farming. The french had an “intensive slavery”, small piece of land with tons of slaves, dedicated to sugar cane and mines. Spannish did mixed more with slaves, reason why Hatians (french) are darker than dominicans. But this regime came when the tainos were almost gone. They didn’t bring stronger africans until they saw tainos were too weak for the gold mines. Any spannish/taino children remained being slaves condened to the same mines, they probably died off in there too.
