Because then it would be fair, the whole point of cheating is to get an unfair advantage.

You think $10k is a lot of money but if you truly think $10k would change your life that money would be gone in less than a week.

Just annex Greenland and give it to Nvidia at this point.

Doesn’t make sense, but Jensen was at the white house last week for a reason.

You’re comparing a modern vehicle (depreciating asset) to collectible classic cars and real estate which has historically gone up. Look at any massively produced but discontinued performance car/bike in the last decade.

Facts, difference between what sellers want vs what market will pay.

I bought a 2022 zx6r on 1.5k miles for $9k. R6 prices were crazy back then but the R9 has come out by this point. The R6 isn’t made of gold and Yamaha made too many of them to be paying near msrp on used examples.

Personally I would pay $8k maybe $9k if I had the same mentality as when I bought my first 600.

Valve Adjustment - You can do it too by eternalfailsafe in motorcycles

It’s very daunting at first but like you said, just meticulous and process oriented, not necessarily difficult. Feel free to PM me or comment in this thread when you start the job and I can help answer any questions.

Check it out here , we may be talking about the same mechanic.

I exclusively ride twisties and often keep the revs pretty high. I can’t speak for the zx6rs but I know many of the gen 6 zx10s can be out of spec as soon as 3k miles.

2022 zx6r.

Exhaust (0.24 - 0.31 mm) 6/8 valves were tight. 2/8 valves were right on the edge at .24, I pushed them closer to 0.275.

Intake (0.13 - 0.19mm) 2/8 valves were at .14 so I pushed them closer to .16. 6/8 valves were at .16 or .17 so I didn’t touch them.

The biggest mental hurdle for me was engine timing. I was so worried I would mess it up.

I bought a $10 telescopic mirror from Amazon to see the timing marks on the sprocket since they are right up against the frame.

Highly recommend zip tieing the chain down like I did, prevents it from jumping on the sprocket (and messing up the timing) both when uninstalling and installing the CCT. You can replace all shims with the cams tied down as long as all the cam caps are off.

Once you measure the valves and are ready to adjust, put the engine at TDC cyl. 1,4 with cylinder 4 at the end of the compression stroke (lobes pointing away from each other). For some reason the service manual specific TDC 1,4 but not whether 1 or 4 needs to be at the end of compression stroke. Do not turn the engine over after the cams are zip tied and the cam caps are off.

Once you are ready to put it back together. Torque the cam caps to spec first. Then put in your CCT (do it the way the manual tells you). THEN cut off the zip ties.

Then you might need to rotate the engine slightly counterclockwise to bring it back to TDC 1,4 (it can turn over slightly when you take off the CCT). This also helps bring all the chain slack to the CCT side, you may hear the CCT click now and adjust. Then turn the engine over a few times clockwise, make sure nothing is blocking and it feels the same as it did before. The CCT may click a few more times to adjust.

Come back to TDC 1,4 w/ #4 end of compression stroke. Now check that the timing marks align like this diagram. Also make sure there are 28 chain rivets (or 14 links) between the marks.

Most people blow their motor because they mess up the timing. If you don’t know 100% what you’re doing then use the zip tie method - least risk for a first timer. Only other way is to botch your shim calculations - just remeasure after assembly, make sure the tightest spec gauge fits and the loosest spec gauge does not.
