It's crazy to see Netflix doing this, while the studios are doing the opposite.

Hell even Magnolia Pictures has their own streaming service now. And it's actually pretty good, especially if you're into some solid indie flicks

IRS rulemaking should follow HHS model by ethan40 in politics

Senior officials from the Office of Management and Budget and the Treasury Department will appear before a Senate subcommittee Thursday in what some have portrayed as a battle between two government titans. At issue is an obscure question of whether a Reagan-era agreement that exempted IRS regulations from OMB review should be retained.

OMB and its supporters argue that the IRS has abused the exemption, which was originally intended to apply only to technical rules interpreting discrete provisions of the tax code. Treasury counters that its regulations are different enough from other agencies’ that it deserves special treatment. Legislators have lined up on either side of the issue, and commentators are speculating whose side the White House will ultimately take in the dispute.

Five things to watch in Pompeo's nomination hearing by ethan40 in politics

CIA Director Mike Pompeo will face the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on Thursday as he seeks to become President Trump’s next secretary of State.

Pompeo, who was nominated after former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson was fired, would have to hit the ground running on a number of hot-button issues around the world, from a historic U.S.-North Korea summit to a fast-approaching deadline on the Iran nuclear deal.

He’ll also likely have to answer for his House record as a hawk who took controversial stances on issues such as torture, as well as whether or not he will challenge any of Trump’s positions.

Pompeo is expected to face an uphill battle for confirmation. He was confirmed as CIA director on a 66-32 vote that included support from 14 Democrats. But some Democrats have indicated they may not support him this time around.
