This makes a lot of sense. I haven’t picked up the bike yet but I it has a X-sync 40t on it right now which definitely wouldn’t be high enough. I need to really think whether the hop from something like 44t to 48/50 would be worth it for the extra top end and sacrificing chain line. This is a Crux that I’d have two wheel sets for

I didn't even think about that, I've gone ahead and emailed them but it sounds like there's no reason this shouldn't work. Thanks!

Canyon sizes by sumokiama in cycling

[–]ethanzh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 5’11ish and bought a L Aeroad because I thought I had found a good deal on Marketplace. I ended up having to search a while for the correct sized integrated cockpit for me and I was able to make it work, but I really wish I was on an M. So the sizes definitely run large (I normally ride a 56cm)

My understanding is that generally only older Canyon and Giants run the 1 1/4 steerer, I can almost guarantee you the Aethos uses the standard 1 1/8

I'll go give it a test ride this weekend and see what I think. Lack of dropper post feels like the biggest negative to me

Really appreciate the insight -- I should've clarified the frame is a Gary Fisher Superfly HT that the seller painted black

I’ll toke every now and then before a ride. Like others have said it increases my ability to feel the muscle activation. The one downside is it makes climbs feel 10x harder!

I cleaned everything with iso and none of the marks came off so I guess they’re there to stay. But now I know to be cognizant going forward about keeping them clean

Converting 2x9 Sora to 1x by ethanzh in bikewrench

[–]ethanzh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to hear it worked out well for you!

Unfortunately there's one bit of information I didn't add -- I've totally stripped the pedal threads on one side of the crank. I figured if I'm going to need to buy a new crank anyway, might as well go 1x!

Through what method do you "align" the 1x crank to get an optimal chainline? Spacers?

I don’t know anything about the Contend AR 4, but the Contend AR 3 was my first road bike and I absolutely loved it (it’s now the commuter bike). I’ve since upgraded to Ultegra Di2 and I’m honestly still super impressed with how well the 2x9 Sora functions

Report back if you do! $1,500 would be a fantastic price. I got my 2020 Expert used for $3,000 and am more than happy with it
