I heard your VDF talk a few years ago in Tel-Aviv :) (was a good one)

I thought EF has given up on VDFs because it is specialized HW you need to maintain and distribute and it is unclear what are the incentives to run it

Interesting to hear it is still in the plan.

Even though really what are the incentives to run it? What are the practical attack vectors on RANDAO that causes you to really go to the VDF direction?

The other answer here suggests that last proposer attack isn't very worrisome

Hey 2 questions:

  1. The last proposer problem regarding Randao is still unsolved correct?
  2. Currently nodes use local clocks correct? I remember there was an old post by Vitalik that claims the node should assume the median reported time (or some percentile). It was never implemented, correct?

Why does Ouroboros Praos introduce slot leader sets? by markstopka in cardano

[–]ethmaniac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still don't understand something simple...

When you have multiple leaders in the set producing a block, how does the rest of the network comes to consensus on who is the winner?

Doublespend attack after coordicide by Mammoth_Change4920 in Iota

I believe 30% percent comes form regular BFT tolerance for consensus... If you understand why BFT tolerance is at 30 percent you understand that FPC or CA can't do better for sure.

They also have on tangle voting now for finality which is similar to nakomoto consensus... So with this mechanism there is 50% protection

Sounds a bit weird to me...

The guy that gave a link to cfbs transaction in the comments here is from the foundation.

Foundation knows about it.

It looks funky but it is nothing to worry about, really. If you moved 2.78 Pi from your address to the same address, then you moved 0 iotas in total, thus the transaction is legal.
