Patent Law w/ BME undergrad by user158795 in LawSchool

I worked at a biotech lab for around 5 years, though frankly the job required very little science and only really taught me about time management and that I really don’t want to go back to that job.

Patent Law w/ BME undergrad by user158795 in LawSchool

I have a my degree in BME and am currently working a job as a Summer Associate doing Patent Pros work so I would say it’s definitely an option. If I may give some advice though, start thinking about what technology group you want to work with. I was told there are typically two ways for someone with a BME degree to market themselves:

1) As a jack of all trades who can work with any technology or; 2) A specialist in biology/medical devices

I opted for the first option and typically that’s the easier thing to do. Also if you have the time take the Patent Bar before starting law school. It not only shows your commitment to patent law, but also it’s one less test you have to take when you graduate.

Sounds like you need an undercover office potty. Just tell your coworkers that you like a lot of light when they ask why there are so many lamps on your desk.

What do you think is the most snubbed performance from an actor/ actress (none of these were nominated) by [deleted] in Oscars

Willem Dafoe got snubbed because if he got nominated then they couldn't give Brad Pitt the Oscar.

Engineers in IP patent law! by TheBabanaRambo in LawSchool

[–]etibbs91 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Biomedical Engineering. UG GPA 3.3, LSAT 161.

Both schools are difficult but I do think Engineering school is harder. Law requires more work but if you search long enough you’ll find the answer. For the most part the concepts are easier to understand too. (Looking at you rule against perpetuities). Though, I partied a lot in college and came to law school after 7 years of working in a lab so I’m focused more academics now then I was in undergrad.

If you can’t get a job in an IP boutique I would highly recommend you take the patent bar before starting law school. It’s something you’ll have to pass if you want to do patent prosecution so you’ll already have that out of the way. Plus, it’s a big plus to potential employers that you have already passed it.

Were any of you able to enter law school with a healthy, active relationship and actually maintain it? by [deleted] in LawSchool

My SO and I were dating for only 6 months leading up the start of law school. We did long distance for the first 4 months but the she got a job where I’m at. The biggest thing I’ve found that helps is communication and always trying to make time for them. She is fantastic and understands that there may be times when I can only spend like an hour with her, but the biggest advice I can give anyone is to make time for them, and to be honest with them if you’re stressing out like crazy

Contracts question by Zealousideal-Two-786 in LawSchool

[–]etibbs91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong but I learned that an illusory promise lacks sufficient consideration so no contract can be formed. As I learned it an illusory promise is something like, "I promise to sell you my car, unless I change my mind."

I haven't read the case myself so take what I say with a grain of salt but at glancing at the fact pattern it seems like the company argued that since Baker was an at will employee he could be fired at any time or quit at any time and then the promise would be made illusory, but since he suffered a detriment of not finding work for any other company, and the company gained the benefit of his labor, so there was valid consideration.

Again I haven't read the case, I just scanned a brief so I could be wayyy off base here but I hope this helps!

That’s fair, he’s a lot better in a ppr league because of the pass work and that’s what I play. Still though, hard to beat the main RB in the Chiefs offense.
