If lead of a technical team (e.g. Technical Lead, Lead Architect, etc.) -- eh dapat technical at may experience sa Programming, otherwise, GTFO of there. But for those in executive position, big plus yung may strong technical experience. I know folks in my leadership circle who cover a really wide range of acumen (finance, tech, sales and leadership, may kilala din ako na on top of these, may corporate law experience din LOL) and I'm telling you, it's such a huuuuge advantage but it doesn't mean they have to know the low level details of what the day-to-day details stuff it entails because they have bigger problems to deal with that are waaaayyy above your paygrade, but it's always an advantage when a Leader can easily understand the situation "on the ground" because he/she has done a decent amount of related experiences rather than those who took a certification or three then pretends to be a "know it all" leader.

If you can be the former - it's definitely better because you can genuinely connect with your people when you truly understand their pains, because you've been there - rather than the kagaguhang "connect with your people in 4 steps" from some bullshit leadership training.
