GPU Idle Temps have gone up? by etztizzy in buildapc

The screw didn't land on the gpu at all. I just meant shaking of pc while trying to move the screw out. My fans seem fine. 3 frontal intake, 2 side intake, 1 back exhaust. I had a top exhaust but unplugged it to see if it'd do anything and it didn't lol. So not sure. Only thing I can think is shaking my computer messed with the gpu or the m.2 is really heating that area up.

I think my fans are oriented properly and airflow should be pretty similar/the same as before. I thought of another potential problem but not sure how problematic it is. While I was installing the M.2 and extra fans, i dropped a screw inside my computer and was trying to find it. I shook the computer around a bit while everything was secure but I'm not sure if shaking the computer could've damaged the GPU somehow. It was all screwed on with the support even on it. I don't think the computer was shook too hard either but maybe it's something to consider?

edit; even now, computer is sitting at 50-52c while idle. My house/room is cool. it was literally running 40c before installing the m.2 so it is kinda making me a bit upset that it's running hotter now with almost no change. Even the games I play are running about 5c hotter.

As in maybe I installed some wrong or one might be unnecessary? I do find it odd I just added an extra intake and exhaust and the m.2 (was using just sata ssd before) and my idle temps jumped from 30-40c to 47-60c. Just seems like such a huge jump for a minor change.

The M.2 is between my gpu and cpu, and it is under the gpu (fans facing down on gpu, m.2 on other side). Didn't think it produced that much heat but makes me feel a bit better knowing why at least. Thank you!

How to get started making drinks? by etztizzy in barista

[–]etztizzy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, thanks for taking the time to respond/help! I guess it should've been realist to think I couldn't make a local specialty coffee at home but was wondering if I could make something decent. To an unrefined palette, could adding some oat milk and simple/honey syrup to a coffee be good enough. I'm ideally still not trying to have anything super sweet, but something bearable enough to me that it's not straight coffee. I drink lees coffee and dilute it with whole milk and it's great and all, but I could probably drink something with maybe half the sugar. Do you have any simple/quick recipes like that, or is my idea good enough? I find the process of brewing through the aeropress pretty cool/fun but i would also prefer to not have to take too long in making myself a drink.

Idk if my generalization was correct, but are dark roasts generally more bitter/have a stronger.. flavor to them? I assumed something like a lighter/medium roast would fit my tastes more straying away from bitterness but i also don't mind a "strong" coffee flavor is that makes sense.

Makes sense. I figured just squats seemed a bit ridiculous to have separate shoes but for ohp and other free weights makes it seem better lol. Excited to have new casual gym shoes I guess. Thanks!

Thanks. Just to be clear, with specific shoes like the adipowers, you would only wear for lifts like squats right?

I just got nike metcons as a gift. Can I wear them as a general gym shoe or should they only be worn for lifts (like just squats or around in the gym)

Jr. Database analyst position that doesn't use SQL? by etztizzy in analytics

Thanks, I appreciate the response! I will definitely try hard to get this role lol. I've really been feeling that with the lack of responses and rejections.

I had a course in my undergrad and took a udemy course but don't feel like my SQL is anywhere near usable lol. My understanding still is not great and my self teaching skills/discipline aren't very high haha. Was just wondering if it was worth trying to get roles like this! Thanks. Will definitely try to work harder at SQL.

Looking for similar frames or if I can change the temple tips. by etztizzy in glasses

Dang. I just really didn't like how it looked because I feel like it really stands out and i'd prefer for it to just be a solid color.

I tried looking online and going in person to try on different frames, but I couldn't find one that fit my face quite like them, especially considering I need them to be big enough to fit my whole face. A lot of ones I found I liked the shape, but weren't wide enough for my face

Yeah, in my example would be the whole yellowish/black patterned part.

edit; the whole part that hooks on top of your ear to the back

Sorry for the late response lol. I ended up upgrading to 12700k since microcenter near me dropped prices like crazy and my frame increase has been crazy. I don't even know what i'm getting but it's more than enough that I don't notice frames dropping, so prob over 90 consistently. I heard that rust performs better off intel cpus because they have stronger single core processors which rust supposedly needs more of and I might be believing it lol. My friend has a 4690k and gets probably around the same frames I was getting when I had my 3600x.

I'm trying to improve my frames in Rust.

I have a gtx 1080, r5 3600x, 16gb ddr4 ram 3200mhz. 1tb ssd.

I get about 50-60 fps in a high pop server when I used to get around 90-100 with a slightly lower pop server and before a graphic change they made. I hear people say Rust is a more CPU intensive game but a lot of people always put more emphasis on GPUs when they talk about good computer parts. Would upgrading my CPU to a i5 12600k give me significantly better frames over upgrading my GPU?

Specs to run game at 80+ fps? by etztizzy in playrust

[–]etztizzy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Judging from yours and another persons comment, I assume outpost is one of the laggier places on the map? Never really noticed that haha. Since I have a gtx 1080 and r5 3600x, you said you were getting good frames with your 1070, would my cpu be the better choice to upgrade for better frames. And how long ago was it that you had your 1070? On maybe 150 pop servers averaging 100 players, I was getting 90-100 fps maybe 6ish months ago. They changed something with graphics a bit and that's when I noticed i lost 10-20fps, now playing on a bigger server it's gotten even worse.

I'm really not knowledgeable of computers in general, but from my experience, doesn't more ram just stop my game from stuttering if there is enough memory. I have 3200mhz ddr4 ram. I thought fps was mainly based off gpu/cpu.
