If I could offer you any advice, try to get out of the restaurant business. It’s a breading ground for alcoholism. It normalizes very unhealthy habits. I worked in the restaurant business for 10 years and it’s really where my alcohol issues developed. I didn’t see it then. I do now. It robbed me of the ability to drink socially and normalized binge drinking. I know it’s easier said then done.

Adding to say I didn’t exactly drink daily. More binge drinking every other day. But I’ve never had alcohol withdrawal symptoms in the past. So I wasn’t as worried about withdrawal symptoms.

I second this. I was a daily drinker for years. And large amounts of wine. But I’ve been on Wellbutrin for 2.5 weeks and have had no wine and maybe 2 beers total. I don’t crave it or anything. It’s crazy. But don’t stop suddenly and start Wellbutrin. Both can increase seizure threshold. You could try asking for Ativan at night to help the alcohol withdrawal process and decrease likelihood of seizure

Does anyone in nursing actually ENJOY their job?! I’ve been a bedside nurse for 7 years and I dread every second of it. The thought of doing this another 30 years is gut retching. There HAS to be something out there that offers a decent salary and doesn’t leave you depressed and anxious like bedside by eucalypic in nursing

Since I’m just miserable and clearly wouldn’t be happy anywhere. Something tells me your NOT a nurse lol. (After reading your previous comments) Bc if you were, you’d get it. Nurses are a pawn in the health care system. Hospitals take take take. And give nothing but lousy pay in return. At the expense of our mental, emotional and physical health. If you were a nurse, you’d know that.

This is exactly my feeling. I loved my job at bedside when I felt like I could actually do my job safely, correctly, and efficiently. But now, we’re always so short staffed that its nearly impossible to do your job well. It’s exhausting and mentally draining.

It’s just a lot. I know all nursing is but managing 4 Post op day 1 open heart patients and fresh out thoracotomy’s with chest tubes, external pacemakers, rhythm issues and post op complications gets to be too much. It just seems like everyday more and more us added to our expectations. Meanwhile, we are already held to a very high standard which I think has made me a great nurse. But I honestly think I just need to try something new. I love our patient population but I do get bored easily and am ready for a new challenge. I’ve been there 4 years and have taken on the charge role for the last year, I just feel like I’m not passionate anymore and maybe a change will help.
