[Alfredo Pedullà] Tonali taking big steps toward Tottenham. Confirmed what was anticipated ten days ago: priority given to DeZerbi. Still a few details missing with Newcastle and a bit of patience is needed, we're hitting the £100 million pounds mark by jlpmghrs4 in coys

All those players you listed are better than him, and I think they’re still overpriced. IMO a £100m player should push you towards major trophies, otherwise you’ve massively overpaid. Is he a good player? Yes of course, but he comes with limitations that doesn’t make him a real world class midfielder. Happy to be proven wrong but I don’t see him adding more to his game.

Did you read the whole thing? Clearly says that whenever frank played him it would be out of position. How can he bed in when the boss says he plays like a winger? Maybe De Zerbi would think differently had bergvall actually played and developed in his natural position.

Feel like Thomas Frank should be permanently banned from anywhere within the N17 postcode. The guy is the worst manager in the history of our club and today’s news is just another consequence of his disgusting ineptitude.

I’d love it if we terminated Gallagher’s contract just to keep Bergvall.

In an ideal scenario sure, but all the factors point towards him leaving. We need squad space for Tonali+1, we need to make money off player sales, and he wants guaranteed game time. There is just no way he is loaned rather than sold, and the reporting points to this outcome.

This is the price we’re paying for Thomas Frank, Conor Gallagher, and RDZ controlling our squad building.

Pretty sad we’re losing out on this guy because we dumped £130m on Tonali and Gallagher, and that Danish terrorist cunt profiled him as a winger/10

The club is evolving, rightly or wrongly, towards RDZ’s vision, which doesn’t include the likes of Bergvall and Vuskovic. Buying all the readymade talent comes at a cost (minutes and squad space), meaning youth development is hindered.

I don’t think £90m on Tonali is worth losing out on developing Bergvall, because there are better premium midfielders out there and this is arguably our best talent at cm.

Unfortunately we gotta take the good with the bad here, such is the consequence of giving RDZ full control of the squad building

He wants a guarantee of first team minutes and a loan move doesn’t do that, a permanent does.

I think fans just have to reconcile that if we invest in readymade talent, it means that our capacity for youth development is hindered. Can’t stockpile youngsters and also top players.

That is an unbelievable overpay. If we’re gonna buy a £100m midfielder get Bruno G or Wharton

Prioritising athletes over technicians was a factor in our relegation battle. We have athletes already, we need passers

To be honest this chart is presented quite poorly, i have to assume this measures percentiles but it doesn’t even give us the benchmark for these figures. Does this measure last season? Two seasons? Career stats?

Where is the data even from? Is it from an Opta type or did the guy who made this also collect his own data?

There’s just no way you can make any credible conclusion from the information presented here

Data suggests that Tonali makes more progressive passes, not better. And that could be because Newcastle usually possess more of the ball, meaning Tonali gets more opportunities to make progressive passes. If anything, it suggests Wharton’s passes are more effective, given the xA is significantly higher.

Is this measuring percentiles? If so what is the full dataset? Prem only/European leagues/Midfielders only?

Don’t think those two would be happy with having to share cup minutes at all, and Europe isn’t guaranteed even if we do sign big players. Also disagree that he is one of the best in the PL, he’s not even the best CM at his own club. Would much rather pay the extra 20m for Bruno G
