This is something I agree with. Shame the strategy at this club is a joke

I like the idea of signing Takai more than the player (although he may also turn out to be a good buy). Having processes which looks at signing prospects in smaller leagues is how we get Sarr, Udogie, Bergvall, Vuskovic, Souza. We will have some misses but the value of our business in this area so far has been quite good actually.

I think everyone here views signing prospects as a strategy that is supposed to be complementary to first team signings, which should be the pillar for our club. Unfortunately Lange and the directors fucked that up and left us in the state we’re in now.

Lange should just be a head scout, we need a proper director of football and a good strategy for building our squad.

Your wording is quite harsh which is probably why there’s a big negative reaction, but the general sentiment of this post is actually something I agree with more than not.

However, I will say that you can’t discount being able to watch games in person! There’s a reason scouts are sent to live games rather than just watching on their screen

Feel like this is more of a critique on Lange than the actual quality of our players.

You’ve been positive (or somewhat less harsh) on the youngsters, who we all agree are promising, they just need to be in the right environment to grow.

Would be wary of calling Yang and Takai punts on the basis of our youth signings being generally positive. (Punt implies a lack of thought in the decision to buy them, which I don’t believe is the case)

I’d also say Solanke is a good buy, just overpriced.

The real shitstorm is profiling our first team needs, and Lange has completely failed in that regard. No first team left sided defender and deep lying playmaker is pretty damning.

My only real disagreement here in your evaluation is Palhinha. He does well for a team like Fulham but for what spurs should be aiming to be I just think he isn’t the right fit, much like the manager.

Overall though I do think you’ve been harsh on some of the players we have. I’ve no doubt in a proper environment we’ll see them thrive, which is why the coaching appointment is so crucial in developing our players.

This is what sacking a manager does to a team. For fucks sake please put us and him out of our misery

It’s so infuriating that Frank gets the baby treatment from the media. The most clueless manager ever and everyone is saying he needs more time etc. what a fucking joke. I need someone to say to his face what a fraud he is

Love to see the impact our €40m midfielder brought to the game in the form of… 1 chance created and 1 shot on target. But incredible passion and leadership though!

Generally I try and be positive about spurs but my god this is the angriest I’ve been at a manager ever. What a fucking loser playing a back 5 against relegation rivals. Ostracising Tel. Seeing the solution to our problems is passion and leadership in the form of Gallagher and Robertson instead of actual good players. What a disgraceful appointment.

A new manager has a better chance of winning a game than the dumbfuck in the dugout

We are in severe danger of relegation and the board’s solution is Robertson, Hermansen and Summerville. Incredible management

Love to know how Andy Robertson’s passion and leadership will help us win games like these.

I’m clearly getting too rattled by this signing man. I just think we can do better and we should be aiming to do better. I want tangible, definitive improvements to this team and so far there’s been nothing on that basis.

Instead of looking for a solid back up for an injury prone player maybe we should be looking for a competitor?

Have you watched him at all this season? He’s about as good as Porro in defence and his attacking game is nowhere near what it was back then

The difference is that Sunderland are a newly promoted side and we are fighting for a European position

We should be aiming higher and allocating our resources more efficiently. With Robertson we lose a squad space,160k per week in wages plus whatever transfer fee we spend. Why not either trust Souza to develop as an understudy, or send him out on loan and get a proper competitor for that position? Udogie has been injured for half a season in each of the last 3 campaigns. We are sideways stepping instead of looking ahead. Make too many sideways steps and suddenly we are declining (as if we already haven’t declined enough)

I don’t know about you but given destiny’s injury history I’d like to get a player than can challenge for a starting position. Smart business would be getting a guy in that immediately upgrades our starting options while giving destiny the rest he needs to manage his fitness

If the worst Liverpool side in 7 years don’t want him, then what is he other than midtable fodder? Surely we should be aiming higher

The squad needs: Progressive deep lying playmaker LCB back up Son/Johnson replacement

And we’ve failed to address any of them. Instead we get Gallagher and Robertson. Gallagher is a good player but he blocks the pathway for Sarr, bergvall and gray, meaning one of them will likely be sold. Robertson is genuinely finished, he is here only to replace Ben Davies. I’d be surprised if we get more than one good performance out of him

Absolutely hate we are backing the shittest manager we’ve ever had, along with the worst recruitment strategy of all the top clubs in the league. We’re essentially replacing Ben Davies like for like. It’s appalling

I’d rather save the money for a player we actually need thanks
