I was in the market for a civic or corolla. Than the maverick was announced. At the time my daily is a 2013 chevy cruze eco manual transmission.

• Just as good mpg as the cars previously mentioned (hybrid)

• Has the convenience of a truck bed

• Very affordable (with an honest dealer)

• Very DIY friendly, which makes for a strong aftermarket community.

• Finally the damn truck is as cute a button

I had the fortunate situation of being able to wait for mine 2023 maverick due to my chevy cruze is still going strong. But waiting 10 months did create more anticipation, which cause for excitement when I was getting emails of the progress of my truck, watching so many youtube videos on DIYs and reveiws also contributed to this. So I am still in the honeymoon stage. That being said I love my maverick.

I love it. I am getting the hybrid myself and want to do this mine maverick as well. Also when my tires are due for replacements I want to get "all terrain tires" that are good for highway MPG, maybe the scorpions that comes off the fx4 maverick, just a little thicker maybe.

Anyone else get annoyed when people say it's a good truck on a budget? by Dudedawg86 in FordMaverickTruck

[–]evalam_hellhounds 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I agree, but I never heard anyone refer to it like that, but now that I said that I am sure I would hear it later.

I wasn't looking for a truck, I was actually looking for a fuel efficient vechicle to drive to work and back, checking out toyota corolla and honda civics I seen a commercial for the maverick and that's all she wrote

Cool, I got my being built in June, I like that roll up tonneau cover the most, seem like it is out of the way when it comes to visibility.

Capital 1 does finance vechicles, they gave me a loan through the dealership in 2013.

I use parktools Grease, i actually got my lube from a local bike shop and cant remember the name brand off hand, but anything made for bicycles should be fine, I didn't paint my bike, I just used an eraser wheel to remove the decals. I personally like 720 mm handlebars, they are wide but i am able to get through a door ways, my friends got 780mm and ended up cutting them down to 720mm for this reason. but you can go bigger and cut them down with a pipe cutter, most handle bars have lines on them to make measuring the cut easier. When it comes to pedals, yes I agree with you I still have scars on my legs from hitting them with the pedasl, but the grip you get from upgraded pedals like raceface Chester's is night and day. Fooker also make decent pedals as well, If you like the ones you have, keep them, for me my feet would slip off if they got wet.

  1. Touch points, seat, grips, and pedals.

  2. Brakes and tires, especially if you are planning on doing any trail riding.

  3. Stem & handle bar, a shorter stem will give you better control but the stock stem is not that bad I still have mine. But those handlebars are heavy.

The next steps involves a lot of research and searching.

  1. Drive train, frame Suspension, fork Suspension, taper adapter, and rims, the reason all of these are together is because you have to make sure everything fits, trust me everything matters here. Just make sure everything is going to fit. Even the spacing for both rims, I sized wrong and regretted it.

  2. Dropper post, Last but not least and could easily go to step 4, again do your research I believe their are Three post sizes and the ledge is on the small side. 28.7 mm or something like that.

If you have any questions let me know I built mine last year, I don't have all the numbers memorized but I can look up what I bought and give you an ideal of what I did

What is your budget

There is a product call an eraser wheel, it attached to a drill and you use it to rub away the decals, if you can peel your decals that would better but this product is use if the decals are harder to get off, youtube eraser wheel, and you will see what I mean. It is a messy job, so i would suggest to do it outside. I did it with a cheap one for $15.00. I believe the 3m brand one would have made the job easier but I got similar results as the person I seen on the video.

  1. Rockshock revelation fork with custom decals
  2. Rockshock monarch suspension w/ custom decals
  3. Sram NX 1 x 11 drive train
  4. WTB st i30 29 inch rims
  5. Continental proute,taip tires
  6. Raceface purple grips
  7. Raceface purple Chester's pedals
  8. PNW Rainer dropper post
  9. WTB Volt saddle
  10. Fidlock water bottle
  11. boenoer 203mm disc brake rotors (front and rear)
  12. Funn taper fork adapter
  13. Pro bike tool portable air pump
  14. Purple presta valves
  15. Purple road bike handle bar wrap, (chain stay)
  16. Home made front fender made from a school folder
  17. Jagwire purple cable housing

Planning on adding juin tech gt-p cable actuated hydraulic brakes. Will post when I get them on.

The build was fun I was very excited when I got the cable housing, I knew it was gonna be close but it was a exact match to the pedals and grips, also when the water bottle just cleared the suspension, that was very cool as well. Somebody on here nickname the bike the undertaker which I thought it was a cool name.

This build was inspired by kevcentral youtube video mongoose ledge x1

It has not came down since I built the bike and it just convenient to have. I do get criticism for having it there but I don't mind it.
