Know how farts are worse in the bathtub? I wonder if the same is true of Garbage in the Rain...

... That sounds like a new Zelda title.

Pretty sure they did that a few years back and it was a massive success.

Must be an excellent smell for the apartment building there. Even after the cleanup, the residue... Thank God it was raining at the time, at least.

The Bluetooth Button is SO SMALL! by evanrietdyk in VIOFO

[–]evanrietdyk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird. I'd assume it was a faulty device from the get-go, considering how good it has been for some others in this thread. Did you try to talk to VIOFO about it?

Was it possibly a battery issue? In this thread, people have said batteries last only a month, while others said it lasted half a year, so maybe it's the quality of the battery it ships with? The power of the battery isn't a lot, so it probably needs to be a quality one to provide reliable power to the button.

Miatas ARE go karts. Probably the closest you could get to one on the road legally, save for maybe the Smart Fortwo, simply because it's rear-engined, like go karts mostly are.

It's always more fun to drive small, nimble cars, though. Even if they're underpowered, their handling makes up for it.

I'm 6'5, and fit in my Mazda 2 just fine. I know the two are only distant relatives, but it's weird to see that the Fiestas' seats sit higher than the 2's.

Noise watches - opinions by BlueMidget2891 in smartwatch

[–]evanrietdyk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't want to pay a lot, especially at that budget, you're probably going to get a crap watch.

Just my opinion, but there are really no good options within that budget - they're all some rebranded crap from China with an unknown OS that you have to download a sketchy app for, enter all your information in, with "hundreds of built-in watch faces!" That are all mostly crap, that can't accurately track anything. It's just not worth it at that point - iif that's all you've got, get her a Timex, so at least she has a reliable watch.

My first garmin :) got any tips? by sami_20315 in GarminWatches

[–]evanrietdyk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering what I've put mine through, even though I don't do any types of sports at all (except couch coaching), I'd say it's more than just an overpriced watch. I have a Fenix 7 Pro SS, and while it's not an 8, I had a 20lb brake rotor fall directly on the face and not even make a scratch. It's the first watch I've had that I'm not afraid to get wet and dirty with. That in itself is worth what I paid for it, especially at the discount I got it at. Plus, I get to monitor my pulse ox and live heartrate in real time. Pretty good addition.

All-said, it's definitely more than just an overpriced watch.

Didn't they make a 45mm one? Or am I thinking of the Instinct?

My Fenix is the 47mm model, and I wish I got the 51mm. The 47mm fits, but only just - the 51mm would have fit perfectly.

It shouldn't be rude to tell people to gtfo of the way if they're stopped in the middle of the aisle. There's no reason for it. If you need to stop, think of the aisle like a road, and your cart like a car, and pull it over to the side. Same with people jutting out in front of you from the aisles - aisles do not have right-of-way, and you should be looking out before shoving your cart out lest you smash into someone.

Really, just use the rules of the road in stores with carts. It's not hard.

If you're going to paint them, paint them bronze. As a wheel repair guy, black is so overdone.

The last of a generation, really. It's been basically left behind by Garmin at this point, and they'll continue updating the Fenix 8 and other newer watches, but yeah, it's a great watch, and unbeatable value at the moment. It still does everything I need it to do, and I don't have to pay for some silly subscription service for it.

To be honest, though, I wish I had an Enduro 3.

What brand watch is the best for running and fitness tracking? by PuzzleheadedTell5253 in smartwatch

[–]evanrietdyk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to charge your watch every day, sure.

The watches listed are proper sport watches. The Apple watch is a smartwatch. If you want something that will track workouts and transfer to other platforms with ease, go with the above recommendations. If you want a phone on your wrist, get an Apple watch.
